“Best choice in Waikiki”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Great food, drink, service and ambiance. The menu choice was extensive and to be honest had challenges on what to choose and that's where we were impressed with the service. The waiter asked what we liked and gave suggestions on the dishes. We all shared the dishes and all enjoyed the choices, so 10 out of 10 for our waiter.

“Overrated, overpriced, poorly executed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

I cannot understand the rave reviews of this place. Our experience was One of sore disappointment and feeling so very cheated. The place is clearly overrated and extremely overpriced! Even by Waikiki standards. We left hungry and disgusted. After a $ 153 bill. I had to go to a 2nd restaurant to be satisfied.

The misoyaki style butterfish was ruined with an overcaramelized thick crust that was overly sweet and candied. They did not brush off the excess miso marinade prior tocooking, hence the thick gooey sweet crust.

The crab leg tempura was soaking in a sour overly citrusy sauce , therefore soggy, instead of having a dipping sauce on the side.as i had specifically requested. We ordered plain prawn tempura. They could not even do this right. It was soggy ,greasy and tempura batter partly raw. If you are looking for fine authentic Japanese cuisine, I would avoid this place. We got a poorly executed meal that was pretentious.

“very good experience; great food, great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

on the very positive side:
-great food, really inventive and not like anyting I have eaten before (I'm not a so experienced with Asian cuisine I have to add except for sushi stuff)
-great service, fast, courteous service and a special present for the birthday boy
-we are Europeans so we finished dinner a lot later than US and some other people will do, but we never felt that we were under pressure from the staff to leave
slight less positive:
-the sparkling wine definitely was not cold enough
-some smal service errors but nothing really important
-for the price you pay you can go to a Michelin star restaurant; unsure if that's the level they attain

“Try the Wagyu Steak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Probably one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The Wagyu is sliced thin and served on a hot rocks with a cognac flambe. Amazing presentation and an even more amazing taste.
Our waitress, Jessica, was great and recommended some of the best tasting dishes we have had including the Wagyu.

“Great Food but EXPENSIVE”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Went for my wifes birthday, great environment but to quiet for me. We paid $20 for sweet potato fries and it came with 5! $4 per frie. We ordered some sake and sushi too. Total bill was like $180 and we walked out starving!
