Owner description: Hawaii Food Tours™ was created by Hawaii's #1 Food Writer and Restaurant Reviewer, Chef Matthew Gray. It's for those who love food & fun. Voted Best Tours on Oahu for the past two years in a row! Two different daily tours; one takes place in & around Honolulu... the other goes to the North Shore. We will feed, educate and entertain you all day long! MSNBC Network called us one of the best food experiences in the world! These fantastic tours feature Yummy Food, Fascinating History, and Culinary Decadence! Our Famous Hole-in-the-Wall Tour™ includes a behind-the-scenes walking and tasting tour in Honolulu's amazingly colorful Chinatown! It's an entertaining, informative and FUN Honolulu City Tour with several stops, including 2 of Hawaii's most famous Bakeries & one of a kind Marketplaces. You'll be eating between 15 & 20 different foods! This tour takes place all over Honolulu, away from the touristy areas of Waikiki, where only the real locals go to eat. Our North Shore Food Tour™ gives guests a tasty glimpse of the colorful and rural "countryside" area of our island of Oahu. Many people read about the North Shore, about the beautiful huge waves, the garlic shrimp trucks, and rustic away-from-the-city areas, and that's what we give our guests, including some genuine Hawaiian food, a garlic shrimp plate, various pastries, Hawaiian Beer, and a visit to a coffee and sugar plantation.

“So glad we chose this tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2008

We took the Hole in the Wall tour and had a great time. Matthew and Keira treated us like good friends and ensured we were well fed and enjoyed the sights, smells and tastes of a Honolulu that most tourists never get to see. We felt honoured to be visiting “behind the scenes” of some of the businesses and getting to see them as a local would. This is definitely one tour that is worth the time and money. We were given heaps of suggestions on where to eat as well as other things to do and see on our stay in Honolulu. We had such a good time with Matthew and Keira we ended up joining their night tour for dessert that evening.

“6 hours of "foodie" heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2008

There are several "must do" things to do in Hawai'i. If you're on Maui you must see the sunrise atop Haleakala & eat at Sam Sato's and Tasty Crust. If your on the big island you must see Madame Pele @ Volcanos National Park & eat the pork chops at Manago Hotel. If your on Oahu you must visit Pearl Harbor, Hanauma Bay, & Lanikai Beach & take the "Hole in the Wall" food tour. You will be taken to some of the best eats in Hawai'i. Matthew & Keira will take you to places many "locals" don't know about. Check them out at Hawaiifoodtours.com. My family & I have been to Hawai'i several times and this tour was, by far, the 2nd best thing we've ever done on the islands (the first was watching the sunrise on Haleakala). Matthew & Keira also give you a running commentary on Hawaiian culture and history during the tour, and they're really nice folks too. Do yourself a big favor the next time your go to paradise & save 6 hours for this tour that you'll be telling your friends & ohana about for years to come.

“A LOT OF ALOHA HERE...Put it on the "MUST DO" LIST”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2008

A LOT OF ALOHA HERE!
We went on this walking food tour on August 26, 2008. It was a delicious sampling of foods. It was informative and the hosts couldn't be better company. They truly love what they are doing and enjoy entertaining their lucky guests. What makes this a huge success is the perfect blend of excellent food, the proper quantity of food at each location, walking, and informative discussion among the group.
Aside from selecting delicious and unique foods to sample, you are driven to locations that tourists WOULD NOT SELECT. Some spots are not available to the public.
Important: Do not eat breakfast before starting the tour...there is plenty of food.
Our family was in Hawaii for a month doing a plethora of activities. This is among the best. Thanks Matthew and Kiera!

“Best intro to fun food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2008

This fun graze through the city was like having two good friends give you the scoop on where & what to eat and see while on Oahu. Not only did we have fun but Matt & Keira shared recipes & interesting facts about places to see as well as tips on food preparation. We got information on places to eat at all price ranges. I highly recommend signing up for this trip at the beginning of your adventure so you can revisit some of the sights before you leave.

“Favorite Honolulu experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2008

Matthew and Keira are amazing tour guides- genuine people who felt like friends right away! They are knowledgeable and passionate about the "foods of Hawai'i" that we explored on the Hole-in-the-Wall tour. Matthew brings a chef's perspective, Keira the local expertise: they are the perfect pair. The tour content was a well-rounded sampling of the variety of influences in Hawai'ian food and also great context and history. HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED! We did this tour toward the end of our honeymoon week in Waikiki- earlier would have been better as it oriented us to where to go/what to look for. Favorite element: China town- noodle factory. Love to Matthew and Keira! xo Sarah & Phil Kerrigan
