“As good as we remembered!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

Great food though we were disappointed that the seafood trap was taken off the menu however, they made it up by adding an awesome seafood entree in a lobster bisque style broth. Yum! Recommend a reservation and request to sit in the front. Back area quiter but unimpressive like it was an afterthought.

“Great place near Waikiki”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014 via mobile

We liked this place so much we went twice during our week stay in Waikiki. It seems there are two different atmospheres though, bar scene up front and a quieter casual dining scene in the back. We sat in the back both times with a reservation. The food was great! We got entrees the first time then tried a few pupus the second time. Their menu is marked for their most popular items and with good reason! We tried quite a few of their "must try" dishes and were impressed! Definitely a great place off the main Waikiki strip and worth trying!

“Great place off the strip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Uncle Bo's was recommended by the staff at the Renew and there were on the mark. We were able to walk, which was a bonus after a great meal. The only downside was not being able to take the leftovers back to the hotel.
There were a number of parties that night so all were competing to be heard and the sound level was very high. The food and service were excellent.

“Not your average hole-in-the-wall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Uncle Bo's is a place that has high aspirations . . . but doesn't quite make it. It is more interesting, innovative and affordable, however, than the restaurants lining the Kalakaua Ave. We started with Pupus and they were so generous that, along with drinks, they were plenty for the two of us. The Spicy Shrimp was cooked perfectly with a slightly spicy, subtle sauce and was fabulous; the Boca Rota was heavy with cream, overcooked beef, gummy cheese bread and boring. However, there is a huge menu with lots more to explore and try out. From the outside the restaurant looks like an old fashioned store front Chinese restaurant - and that is basically what it still is but the interior has been painted and modernized. It is extremely noisy, however, so if you want a place to actually be able to talk to your dining companion, this is not it.

“Sorta a Bo groupie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

I have been following this chef from waaaaaay back, something like 18 years ago when he was the youngest and most talented, working then at the Lewers Street Fish Market (still one of the most talented)
This is my favorite stop for late night and after work yummy meals. I also love stopping here when I have guests visiting as the menu has something for everyone.
I am literally headed out the door to eat there now with friends who have to catch a flight off the island. I want to make sure they have full and happy bellies so of course no place is better.
