Owner description: One of the principal Pearl Harbor Historic Sites, our unique interactive museum is located near the Battleship Missouri in the battlefield hangers of historic Ford Island which were attacked by the Imperial Japanese Navy on December 7, 1941, the beginning of WWII. Aircraft, such as a Japanese Zero and the Stearman in which former President George H.W. Bush soloed as the war's youngest aviator, illustrate how aviation helped stem the war. You'll view historic videos, including a movie of the beginning of the war. Enjoy the authentic gift shop, 1940s themed cafe Laniakea, and the combat flight simulators in which you can virtually fight the battle of Guadalcanal in either an American or Japanese plane.Pacific Aviation Museum's mission is to develop and maintain an internationally recognized aviation museum, which educates young and old alike, honors aviators and the support personnel who defended freedom in the Pacific Region, and is dedicated to preserving Pacific aviation history.

“Great Museum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

The Pacific Aviation Museum was fantastic! While touring the USS Arizona, USS Missouri, and USS Bowfin, we went to see the Pacific Aviation Museum as well. Just like everything else, this museum was very well put together. We got through the museum itself rather quickly compared to the others, but then wandered over the Hanger 79 that is adjacent to the museum. That was where we spent most of our time and there was a great selection of Pacific aircraft. This museum showcases some great piece of history and contributed to an awesome day

“Highlight of our tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We did a 10hr tour with Discover Hawaii Tours. This was the last stop before heading back to the hotel so as you imagine we were a bit tired HOWEVER our guide from the Aviation Museum was the highlight of my entire day. He clearly LOVED his job and so enthusiastic about it that his bubbly personality left us with big smiles on our faces. I don't read a lot, especially about history, so to have someone tell me the history of all of those aircrafts and pearl harbour with that much passion and keep me wanting more after a 10hr tour, just made my day. LOVE LOVE LOVE! :)

“Great Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

This is a very good museum dedicated to aviation in the Pacific theater. You will see military aircraft from the Navy, Air Force, and Army. There is exhibits dedicated to civilian aircraft, i.e. Amelia Erhart, PanAm, etc. This is new museum and a growing museum. Some of the exhibits are under restoration and are being restored right in from of you. I would strongly recommend paying the extra $10 and getting a guided tour. The expertise if the tour guide is well worth it.

“Not to be missed for aviation buffs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Having seen a ton of aviation museums, we skipped this on our last visit. Needed to visit it this time in Honolulu, and it was time well spent. The displays are great and the docents could not be more helpful. The Niihau incident exhibit is awesome, as well as the B17 project. see the actual shell holes left over from the attack of 12/7/41. Make it a half day expedition.

Some nice planes, but not a lot. Spread over two hangers with a long walk In between. Chance to see the original airport tower from Pearl Harbor days.
