“Still the Best Family Option in Waikiki”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

I have just returned from an 11 night stay at the Embassy Suites Waikiki. In short, it was wonderful and the best time I have ever had at this hotel (this was my third stay). Occupancy rates appeared to be a little low and we were lucky enough to get an upgrade to a partial ocean view which was fantastic!

Check-in was very welcoming and professional (thanks Sandra) and the bell staff were very helpful. The room was spotless and comfort levels were very good indeed. The maid service was consistently excellent with very friendly and efficient ladies every day. The beds were very good in terms of rest quality and the blackout curtains made sleeping-in very easy. I heard no noise from adjacent rooms or the street (from Level 17).

The room had both wired and wireless internet access. The data rate and signal strength were excellent. I didn't watch much TV but channel selection appeared to be basic cable with one or two good kid's channels.

The included breakfast is standard fare for Embassy Suites with better than average fruit selection, great omelettes and a fair selection of pastries, cereals etc. It does get a little monotonous after a while and we chose to have breakfast out every few days (Dukes is a good option). Service at breakfast is very good with Aldrin doing a fantastic job with a genuine smile and true enthusiasm.

Evening drinks are really very well done at this hotel. The bar staff know their stuff and the free Mai Tais are deadly so look out. The snacks on offer are basic but keep kids happy until dinner. Live music is provided with an excellent Hawaiian band playing 4 nights a week (I think).

The hotel pool is clean and well maintained and excellent for kids. It is not really a great place for couples to lie around and relax. The beach is a 2 minute walk away.

The location of the hotel is hard to beat. It is one block from the sand and views are not as good as the beachfront hotels. However, there are dozens of quality eating options very close to the hotel. The Yardhouse is an excellent family dining option and it is literally under the hotel.

This is not a true luxury property - there are plenty of those dotted around Waikiki. Rather, this is a great hotel which caters very well to families and offers very good value for money. My wife and 5yo daughter loved it here and we will definitely be coming back.

Dear PeterSydney80,
Thank you for your third returned stay, as well as an excellent review of our hotel. I am glad to hear that your loyalty was rightfully recognized. Thank you very much for the kind comments regarding our staff; I will be sure to share them with the appropriate personnel. It is nice to see that even after a third returned stay, you are able to write a thorough review with such splendid things to say. You are spot on that we are not a luxury hotel, but will continue to be the best we can be. We look forward to your fourth return!
Mahalo,
Bob Y

Nice hotel, good location, close to everything, but the beds needs to be replaced. the last thing you need when you have had a long travel day from the states is sleep in a worn out bed.. the free breakfast is great value, and lots of excellent restaurants near by.

Best all around hotel and well located. The hotel is in walking distance to the beach, restaurants and plenty of shopping which minimizes having to take a car out every time you want to do something. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.

Dear A TripAdvisor Member,
Thank you for the short yet SUITE review of your recent experience at our hotel. Location, location, location is the key factor for a successful hotel. You are absolutely right that many guests find it unnecessary for a rental car because of our fabulous location. In addition to saving money on transportation, our complimentary amenities such as the breakfast and evening reception are also added values that most seek out. Thank you for your recommendation!
Thank you,
Bob Y

Dear Katvonshop,
Thank you for the brilliant review of your stay at our hotel. You named the two most important factors for a successful hotel; the staff and location, as both make a great impact on our guests. I am glad to hear that even after a two-week stay, you found our breakfast selection to be vast. I hope you were able to also enjoy our complimentary entertainment offered during the evening reception, four times a week. Thank you for your recommendation, and we look forward to your return.
Mahalo,
Bob Y

This hotel has amazing staff. Everyone we encountered was outgoing, helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great and always something different to keep it from getting boring. The manager’s reception was fun with entertainment. The suite was very clean. The hotel location is wonderful, so close to the beach, shopping and dining. We will stay here again.

Dear Jennifer K,
Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at our hotel. I am glad to hear that the staff welcomed you with the "Aloha" spirit, as they consistently do from the bottom of their hearts. You are correct that we try our best to switch out certain breakfast items throughout the week. I hope you enjoyed the plentiful selection of fresh fruits. Thank you for your commitment, and we look forward to your return.
Sincerely,
Bob Y

I will never stay at this hotel again. You will not get your money's worth-- front desk is rude; Valet was getting it on with a guest while we were waiting to get someone's attention to get our car; begged and pleaded for a late check out as Diamond Level members with the HH program--- they do not recognize that here; no hot oatmeal; ran out of eggs one days; best servest was the lady that cleaned our room and Aldrin, the only one who appeared to be working during breakfast; was told that we were given an upgrade for a room we spent about 5 hours max-daily.... do not stay here- there are other hotels in the area...

Room Tip: Rent a car and travel; tour on your own; they try to sell you the Hilton Grand Vacations Time share...

This is a great, spacious hotel with an excellent pool for families with young children. The breakfast is more than adequate, and the evening reception with live music and snacks/drinks is a definate bonus. The location is very convenient to both the beach and shopping/restaurants. The rooms are clean and we loved having a suite.
