Had several meals at the Veranda during a recent stay at the Moana. The view was beautiful and the service was great. We greatly enjoyed the morning brunch buffet. It was filled with diverse offerings of colorful fresh fruits, oatmeal, beautiful appearing omelets, benedicts, sausages and warm dishes and breads. The coffee was excellent. If you want a good sized breakfast and no lunch opt for their Buffet Brunch mid morning.
We made reservations for a sunset dinner on the Veranda as well. The ocean view cannot be beat. It was busy and a bit loud around sunset and might be more enjoyable for friendly groups o or parties than for a quiet intimate occasion.
The Ahi I ordered was disappointing in flavor. I adore Ahi and had it prepared much nicer at other restaurants during same stay in Honolulu. My husband ordered a NY strip steak which was quite tough- difficult to chew gracefully. Maybe just a bad night for the Veranda??
We were not enchanted with the wine choices on the menu- not great choices overall. Not even inspired to use the vouchers the Moana issued for complimentary wine with our room(which was great) after trying some wine there and reviewing the wine list overall. The Mango Mojitos- a July special were good.
We made reservations at the neighboring Royal Hawaiian Hotel's oceanfront restaurant,"Azure" an evening following and had incredible seafood and service. The cost was little more.
The Brunch was so good that I would still have to rate the Veranda as very good vs. good.
