“Taste of Hawaii”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013 via mobile

Our son, who lives in Honolulu took us to Side Street Inn the first night of our visit. The Poke was wonderful (although I've eaten it at every opportunity here and haven't had any bad Poke). The Kalbi ribs and pork chops were all tasty. Service was good and the atmosphere typical. Overall very enjoyable experience.

“Local Hot Spot”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

We were recommended to this place from our travel agent and several locals told us it was one of their favorite spots to eat. Food was very reasonably priced and the portions were huge. There were plenty of left overs and we got one entree, on fried rice, and one appetizer for 2 people. Food was good but we found the pork to be a little on the fatty side. Decor was nothing exciting and looked a little on the tired side.

“A little taste of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

When we went to Oahu, my focus was the beaches and ocean. No one told me the food would be so delicious. One night we were invited to the Side Street Inn and I was hooked. It was hopping with people, all the food was great. Apparently they are well known for their pork-chops which were quite delicious but heaven in my mouth was the yellow fin tuna hamachi. Also a great place to eat family style.

“Taste of the (deep fried) Islands”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

We decided to visit based on a friend's recommendation and reviews of TripAdvisor.

The restaurant was a packed and we were glad we made reservations. It looked to be a mainly local crowd and we had a short wait for our table. A very busy place but our waitress was lovely and service was quick.

Do not eat or drink anything before coming here. The plates are designed to be shared and there is a huge amount of food! There was a lot of deep fried goodness but my particular favourite were the ribs - sweet, tender and juicy. The mushrooms were also gorgeous and garlicky. I was able to take the pork chop leftovers home and they made a really tasty lunch the next day.

The absolute winner though was the dessert! Gooey chocolately and caramel goodness. All desserts were polished off with no thought of tomorrow!

If you go, I recommend talking the pink trolley to Ala Moana and walking from there (about 5-10 minutes) which saves you worrying about your car and also to book - otherwise you could be waiting a while.

“Wow! Locals were right”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

The locals are definitely right about this place. The food was great. The price was right!
Family style dining with large portions to share. We had the fried rice, teriyaki chicken and one other dish. Four of us ate and had some leftovers. We will be back when in Honolulu.
