“Fun place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2014

Great time capsule into Hawaii of the 60's Very cool eclectic interior... even has trees growing inside and through the roof. Fun atmosphere, better than average food. Was even visited at our table by a tiny green gecko. It's in a weird little industrial area and was tricky to find, but its a cute, quirky little gem.

“Bring your fly-swatter”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

This restaurant is famous because it is the oldest Tiki Bar/Restaurant in Hawaii. I gave it two circles only because the atmosphere is very old-style Hawaiian-funky-historically cute. Otherwise, I don't think I will ever go there again. At our table of three, we ordered the pork nachos. I think the pork had been sitting in the kitchen all day. The salsa was good though. The Mai Tais were pretty good. I don't know, the food and drinks were just average.

We may have enjoyed the food more if the flies hadn't decided to come and eat the bulk of it. The flies are so brazen that they even land on your hands when you're trying to eat. You just end up waving your hands like some demented mime while attempting to get a bite in your mouth.

There is no breeze in this place. There was an archway behind my sister's chair that was encased in glass and cut off any wind flow. Perhaps this is why the waitress was so unhappy to be working there. Really rude. Wow, way to turn customers away, treat them like they are nothing but an intrusion in your personal conversation with the hostess. She sat us at our table and then left forever. Well, actually, she didn't leave, she passed right by our table about a hundred times. I began to go to the bar to get drinks when the cute hostess intervened and decided to wait on our table. Dirty plates sat in front of us for over thirty minutes until I headed for the bar with them. The hostess apologized and took them and then left the rest of the dirty plates on our table for another ten minutes until I had to take them to the bar. At least when the plates were gone the flies decided to try another table to finish their dinners.

“5 Star Experiance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

OK so some reviewers give this resturant an OK rating ..... I say it is AWESOME . I am a pretty loyal Hawaii 5-0 watcher, I looked up the TIKI bar that was on the show. Our last night in Hawai thought it was time to find an other local gem. We have been up and down the Waikiki strip all week waiting hours in waits . We took a cab 25 each way from Hilton Village and walked right in !! NO wait.... Now my wife was a bit concerned as we turned onto Sand Island road . HAHAHA Not a typical place to go on vacation .
Now for the experiance , 50-60's era TIKI bar set on the marina . Sunset AWESOME !! Drinks even better , the PUPU's fantastic, and the meal wounderfull .
We had surf and turf with coconut shrimp c/w loaded mashed . WOW sooooo. good.
Older gentleman playing piano while we where there made for a great atmosphere ,
THANKS La Mariana for a great last night in Honolulu !!!!
See you next trip .

“One of the few old Hawaiian restaurants”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2014

If you are looking for what Hawaii & the island atmosphere was back 40-50 years ago, this is your place! The decor is pure hawaiiana & it is all authentic. Don't let the surrounding area frighten you off, it's in an industrial area, a bit difficult to find (look for the small white sign with red letters) but worth it! The food is not 5 star but pretty good but atmosphere & attitude of staff make up for that minor issue. Read up on the history on their website or on the menu; we had the pleasure of meeting Annette a few times & glad we did! Enjoy!!

“Back to Another Nice Evening at La Mariana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

Another good expierence at La Mariana Restaurant and Tiki Bar. The evening we came for dinner was busy, but nevertheless the service was - as always - kind, professional and fast. Food was tasty and atmosphere good with live music. The views from the restaurant to the harbor is beautiful, particulary by sunset.
