“Best crabcakes anywhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

This is Roy's original restaurant and the only one that always has crab cakes. You can have them
as an entree or a smaller version as an appetizer. The wonderful sause is on the bottom so you can use it as you desire. You can sit outside or in the bar area without reservations but you need to come early (they open at 5:00pm) Otherwise, be sure to call for reservations so you won't be disappointed. This restaurant is out near Haunama Bay on the east end of Oahu so you need a car. If not, then go to the one in Waikiki as it is also excellent and has the same excellent menu.
Roy was the creature of the original Pacific fusion cuisine.

“Excellent food with a great view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

Consistently excellent food. The food preparation and presentations are great as always. This Roy's menu is a little different from other Roy's which is nice. The food tasted delicious and the service was friendly. The ocean view from the 2nd floor restaurant is just beautiful. We had a great 4th of July dinner.

“Excellent meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

I have reviewed this restaurant a number of times, some rating it excellent, others average. Maybe I have given it a poor on occasion. Tonight we had a delicious meal and the service was excellent. This has been the case for our last few visits. Certainly don't come here if quiet is your highest priority. The large open arrangement certainly makes it noisier than many upscale restaurants. On the other hand, few have the view that the original Roy's offers. The friendly staff make this an outstanding restaurant when everything is running on all cylinders. They are very child friendly, providing children with a quesadilla, a small plate of raw vegetables and grapes, so that they have something to eat while awaiting their meal.
If you want one of the hot desserts, make sure and order it before your meal is served. Otherwise you will have a long wait. Likewise if you want bread with your dinner, request it.

“Overpriced, but good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

I've been to Roy's several times and it has usually been very good. It seemed too noisy to be an upscale restaurant and to be charging those prices. The filet mignon was very good, the chocolate soufflé was ok, and the iced tea was very weak. Service was good and staff was nice. I'd ask to sit in a quieter section if I go back.

“Foodpoisoning”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014

Very shocked, thought this was a high class restaurant. My wife and I both suffered from food-poisoning after eating the Miso tenderloin beef here. It was terrible. Wondering how many other people have had foodpoisoning at this restaurant.
