“Steak?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

The bread was the most appetizing part of the meal. The steak was dry and hard. The fish and shrimp tasted like squishy water... Service was awful and over priced.

“Within walking distance of the Hilton Hawaiian Village the Hale Koa and others”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

It was overall good food and overall good service. If you are looking for fare that will cost you a little less ($70 for 2), Outback is a good choice. I was disappointed that their fish is fresh frozen, especially being a stone's throw from the Pacific, but I understand how it is with chains... so we had beef! We were pleased, the meal portions were generous, and we brought food back to our rooms! Everything was tasty and we got regular visits to our table from our waitress.

“Best view and atmosphere of any Outback in World”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

I was really impressed with the Outback in Hawaii Kai and strongly suggest it for tourists or locals. Sharing a parking lot with Roy's and City Hall in Hawaii Kai this is the place for the best ribs (forget Tony Roma) and burgers and Happy Hour with a view of the ocean. This Outback had a neighborhood clientele.. people who regularly seem to go and were known to the staff.. not many tourists because you have to have a car to get here. The wood Aussie decor makes Outback along with great food experiences and always in my experience good, consistent even when in Japan and Asia where it is sometimes the only place to get a burger and fries and find a bar.

They are so nice the beautiful young girl with a flower in her hair opens the door and welcomes you not with "hi" but Aloha. Instantly you feel good. The bar is big and good for couples or single diners with great service and 3 big TVs with sports on the DL. I would like to see it where you can plug in earpiece at the bar.. to hear the sound on the TV's... I understand having corporately programmed music.

Happy hour was a $1 off drinks and half price pupu's.. including the ahi which was fresh and local.

The Kona Beer comes in big chilled mugs, ice cold and served fast. The wine is good size and great selection. The Bloomin onion is a meal. I would like to see something like Hawaiian sweet potato to help local farmers and use less imports. The break.. oh the bread is the best. There seems to be a real effort on the part of the staff to make you feel welcomed, comfortable, attended to without being bothered and made to feel like you are not in a hurry and dining not feeding.

My steak came a little more rare than I had wanted a beautiful slab of marinated Outback range fed beef ... possibly even from Maui. I asked our server if it would not be too much trouble to make it medium and even though it was busy dinner time .. in two shakes it was brought back perfectly cooked by Tyler, the owner, just to make sure it was done and it was even better than expected. It was clear why this place is packed and it starts with the the Aloha in the practice of the Chief/owner with the attention to detail, clean toilets mean clean restaurant... Jessica and the other cast members who understand that they are part of the show.. I loved the atmosphere and wanted to come back tomorrow... to eat the baby back ribs.. pork is cultural food in Hawaii.

Outback has its act together and is so much better than Hard Rock for food and atmosphere or Ruth Chris for steak and this was the best Outback I have been to for overall quality of food, Aloha from the staff, cleanliness, atmosphere, indoor / outdoor seating views with views of the Ocean and sunset and happiness.

“Lovely, reasonably priced food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

We went to Outback twice on our week in Hawaii as the food and service were really good, not too busy and affordable. Our waiter was friendly and helpful and gave us a few ideas for where to go for after dinner drinks. I would happily recommend Outback to anyone!
