“YUM!”

The best doughnuts in town and a Waikiki icon! Definitely a local favorite! They are always busy due to their popularity so make sure you allow yourself enough time for your purchase.

“So worth it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Loved the malasadas! But, then we are fans of fried dough! We got there around 7:30 AM on a weekday. No lines. Small parking lot. Definitely worth the visit!

“What's the big to do about??”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We had heard so much about Leonard's Bakery and their infamous Malasadas that we just had to try them. We tried to go once but the parking was horrific and the line was out of the door. We came back another day and parking was almost as bad and the line was at the door. It's on the corner of a busy T street and there are about 10 parking spaces. Once we got into the building it was clean, well organized in how the line was moving and how the orders were being taken. We ordered 4 original Malasadas, 2 sweet and sour ones and 2 puffs, one filled with banana cream and one with coconut crème. She gave us our order slip and told us to move on down to the cashier who was at the other end of the counter. By the time we got there our order was ready which did not allow us the opportunity to order anything at that end of the store in the cases. Like all the other tourists we took pictures outside by the sign (that is another reason why the parking is so crowded). After much anticipation we were so disappointed in the lack of taste, just bland. They had an ok texture that was not reminiscent of a donut at all. Now on to the filled ones. The banana had a hint of banana, lemon and pineapple extract. I only ate one bite of it. The coconut was less than lackluster. It missed the taste of rich coconut completely. We haven't felt the desire to try the leftover sweet and sour sugar ones yet. We may return there only to try a different pastry but not for the malasadas.

“Addicted!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

The big craze is Malasadas and I definitely caught the bug for more! Light, airy, covered in granulated sugar, filled or not filled -- they are worth the trip! Across from Safeway. Go there in the morning for a coffee and malasada and you won't be disappointed!

“A tummy delight!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Since I was leaving soon, I wanted to try everything. So I bought a few Malasadas, a cupcake and a Pao Doce. I couldn't eat them fast enough and I can't really call one a favorite because they were all delicious. Don't leave the island without stopping by!
