“Fun drive up Tantalus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2014 via mobile

The drive up Tantalus to Put Ualaka State Park is amazing, there is always a mist that rests on the hills near the top, that leaves a rainbow visible almost daily. Stop on the way up to see some very nice views. Once you reach the top the view will give you a panoramic scene from diamond head to your left all the way to pearl harbor in the distance to your right. Stop for the view, and then enjoy the trip back down with more amazing sights and sounds!!

“Should I really be revealing thiw little known secret gem?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

Puu Ualaka will be a memorable diversion, even if you cannot remember the name. Most visitors are unaware of it &/or have a hard time finding it. It is a peaceful, green park, high above the city. The vistas are spectacular. You can see from Diamond Head to the Waianae mountain range. Take your camera & picnic basket. It's silent solitude is breathtaking as you gaze down upon wiki wiki, wacky Waikiki. The easiest way to get there is by car. Begin at the Punchbowl National Cemetery, which is inspiring in & of itself. Continue on that road for a few miles of lovely rainforest until you see the sign for Puu Ualaka. When you exit the park, I recomment turning right to go back down the hill. Makiki St. will lead you back.

“Steep climb”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

I dove up there this time in a rented Mustang convertible. What a fabulous drive and great views. A lot of cyclists on the road, so be careful if trying to drive around the switchback curves fast. I've ridden up it on a bike...very steep climb, but worth eh effort.

Everyone should experience this drive! Beautiful and peaceful with bamboo forests and Cooke pines, the lookout is unreal with a panoramic view from Haneole to Ewa, amazing. Great place for a few hikes too.

“Wonderful surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

The views are extraordinary from here. I would recommend this park to everyone. BTW, a scene from "Blue Hawaii" with Elvis was filmed on the lawn:)
