“Lovely Stay and Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

Thanks to Grandpa and the crew for a great stay! The tour to the north shore was amazing and kayaking, too. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
The location is excellent, with Lulu's bar right around the corner and the beach only a few steps away.
There are lockers in all the rooms and the gates are locked at night, so I felt quite safe. Also, the rooms all have key cards.
The 12 bed dorm is a bit crowded but you can't beat the price.

This was possibly the friendliest hostel I have ever visited. The staff are ace and the tours fantastic! I went without a plan and everyone was extremely helpful in helping me find cheap car hire and visit sites. The tours go to great spots that I wouldn't have seen otherwise and were the highlight of the trip. The rooms are a bit worn, but cleaned daily.

Room Tip: The 4 bed dorm is quieter and more spacious.

I spent one night in the "semi-private" with shared bathroom, which is actually a tiny dirty room across a dorm. The towels were stinking of dogs and I did not shower as the bathroom was disgusting (see the picture I added). I never the saw the Alphonso pancakes. This place may be ok for backpackers that don't mind living in dirt. For 10$ more, i move to Aqua Aloha surf that I would recommend!

It's the worse place you can imagine! I have spent one night with my husband in this hostel only because they don't refund money!!! Room was dirty and smelly, towels were stinky, and it was extremely noisy!!! We slept in semi private room, and to enter the room we had to cross a dorm room! We paid 65 $ and hotel next doors costs 90 $!!!!

The 'private room' was filthy but the owner has to be commended for the use of mold in the bathroom. It would be a shame to actually clean the bathroom and have all that build up of mold disappear. I'm surprised that the department of health has not shut this place down.

Room Tip: May be a good value for a single person but not for a group who want to share a room.

This place is cheap, one block from the beach, close to the waikiki beach strip, convenient to restaurants, ABC stores. They have van tours that visit different areas (for a fee), but it still works out better than paying for car rental or parking if you are solo traveler. the free lockers were nice, but you need a combination lock (you can bring one, or rent one)

If you are a germophobe and can't rough it, or don't care for the tours, don't stay here. For just a wee bit more, you can stay at the cleaner nearby hostels.

The bathtub is in heavy need of remodelling. There are yellow culk stains everywhere, and even if they cleaned it everyday ( I doubt they do, some hair clumps I saw in the drain before i enter the shower).

I would not return here, given that i've already done the day tours. It's the grossest bathtub I ever seen.

Well...the staff (that is the front lady) was nice, ok it is near the beach but man..CLEAN THE BATHROOMS. It is just filthy. Still waiting for Alonzo's free pancakes. Probably the worst hostel I stayed in..but again one block from the beach and cheap (that is per Hawaii standards).

Room Tip: all the way up
