“Friendly, well-located and good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

I visited Waikiki for a week over the New Year period and we were really glad we picked Shoreline to stay in.

The staff were very friendly and happy to help us with any questions we had and they had plenty of recommendations on where to go around the island.

A bit cheaper than staying on the beach, but being only a street back it was not much different than being in one of those that is on the shore. We walked through the main strip a lot during our tiem, easilty able to experience some of the bars in those on the beach, withotu having to pay extra.

The room was a good size (I think we were staying in a king) and it was serviced well every day. We didn't have an ocean view, but that only matters if you're sitting in your room all day, and not heading to the beach.

Wi-fi was fast, and this made it easy for us to book tours during the week and find out more info about the place when we needed.

The hotel organised our shuttle back to the airport with ease.

If I was going back to Waikiki, I would definitely consider staying here again.

We stayed at this hotel based on trip advisor reviews, my 6th trip to Honolulu. Since we were only staying two nights we decided we didn't need to pay the premium to stay on the beach. The location is good (for not being on the beach), certainly in the middle of the Waikiki strip action. The furnishings and room were clean and modern but they clearly decided not to update the bathrooms, felt like a motel 6 style and space. The re-model felt more cosmetic than anything. The rooftop pool wasn't much bigger than the equivalent of a few bathtubs, hard to imagine anyone would spend any time up there. We were on the 2nd floor with a view of a sketchy parkade for $250/night. The rate seemed to be the best we could do when I booked three months in advance but from googling while we were staying there we could have been at the Outrigger Reef for only $15 more per night. Shop around, there are better choices.

Room Tip: If you stay you will want to be on the side with views of the ocean and on higher floors.

Aloha AandB1015,

Mahalo for the review of your recent stay. It's great to hear you enjoyed our location and our recently renovated rooms! When traveling to Hawaii during peak times you'll find the rates to be a bit more than during the off-season. Regardless, we do offer a great value considering our prices, amenities, condition and location. Even better? We do not have a daily resort fee (those pesky add-on's not included in the rate) that you'll find on some of those larger hotels on the beach! Once again, we're happy to hear you enjoyed the hotel.

Mahalo,
Daniel Floren

For a smallish boutique hotel the staff treated you like you were at the Ritz. I got there a bit early so my room wasn't ready yet. I checked my luggage and went for a stroll. Upon check in I discovered my luggage had already been sent to my room. The front desk gals were friendly and helpful. Scheduled the $12 shuttle to the airport for my departure as opposed to the $30 cab ride. "Island shuttle" driver was also a crack up. The beds were comfortable. I'm going to assume I had a handicap room because the toilet and the shower were both in one big room but whatever, my room was spacious!

Room Tip: I was on the top floor (14th) in the corner. No foot traffic outside my door, two big windows/slidin...

Kudos to this hotel! The noise problem that is real and other people talked about goes away if you keep yourself active during the day ( or probably attending the Happy hours). You can rent a car and explore beaches, go hiking on the off roads towards Ka'ona point( W and N corners of the island, where the highway stops), walk / run to Diamond head, swim, surf, play tennis, volleyball on the beach, go shopping ( Waikele Premium Outlets- great deals), + many other activities, or just go on the beach ( less than 10 min.). We found free parking few blocks north (you'll see the canal) and a couple of times we parked at the zoo for few $/ all day and we walked back to the hotel ( 20 min ). Bus station is about 4 min walking from the hotel. In case you need a car for only few days, it is very convenient to go to airport by bus (the fare is only $2.50 ) and rent a car ( check the Internet as the price is much better then at the location/ try the convertible one) and dropp it off when you go back home. We are already planning to go back next year. Hope they don't get short on coffee.

This hotel was amazing,I'm so glade we ended up going with this one.

The location is great it is only a minutes walk to the strip with all the restaurants and the beach, and the bus stop is also right there too.

The Hotel may not be on the beach line, but it doesn't need to be as it feels so close.

Would certainly stay there again.

Aloha Kevin G!

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Shoreline during your recent vacation. We're happy that the hotels centralized location worked well for you and the activities that you had during your stay being that we are just a stones throw away from the beach and Waikiki’s shops and restaurants. We hope to see you again the next time you visit O’ahu.

Quick review:
We were on the 9th floor, in a very small queen bed room facing North.

Pros:
- Good price/newly updated hotel
- Staff is very friendly and made our day more than once (Alex and Aly both were great)
- Location - right in the middle of things, 5-10min walk to beach
- Free fast internet in the room (read reports of slow speeds, we watched netflix, so ours was fast)
- Balcony (only 1 chair though)
- Fridge, microwave and free beach towels at front desk to use

Cons:
- Pool is not good, it is tiny, cold and next to some industrial sized fans on the room, not sure why others are saying it was nice. We sat there for about 10mins one day.
- Other tourists smoking on the balcony's, forces you to close your door
- Tiny room, asked about an upgrade, they said it would be $25 a night extra, we decided to rent a car for 2 days instead ($26 for valet parking...) I think the bigger rooms would be totally worth it.
- No ventilation in the bathroom - means that your swimsuits, towels, etc will never get dry

Overall:
I would stay here again, but only in a bigger king sized room, we didn't have much issue with street noise, I think those complaints always come from people who live in the suburbs and then stay in a downtown area hotel. They are doing construction down the street that involved some late night 'beeping' that was mildly annoying. The walk to the beach is not bad at all, just a few blocks, but it is far enough that you wouldn't want to go back and forth.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel for families due to the walk to the beach and the pool, but for couples it was perfect.

Tips - McDonald's is just behind the hotel, good for a quick breakfast, it was $40 each way for our taxi, take advantage of all the happy hour food/drink deals down in the beachwalk area (Yard House, Cheeseburgerland, PF Changs) will save you some $ and is only a block away.

Room Tip: Likely higher is better, plus pay for the extra size.
