“Great cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

Chosen by the best of Honolulu magazine , as best coffee shop, We had breakfast several times. Their coffees and espresso beverages are great ! We did not wait long as it was mentioned before. Friendly service! Egg muffin with arugula and bacon was to die for... oatmeal brulee not so special. Will go again whenever we are in Honolulu...

“Good food - but sloooooooow”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2012

The food is great, and worth the wait.

The service is pleasant, and with a smile.

My only complaint would be the 20 to 30 minutes for a coffee. They claim that due to being a barrister, the coffee is made with care and precision etc etc and that is why it takes 20 / 30 minutes for a coffee (but not drip filter - drip filter is ready to drink).

I like this place, have been a few times, but I think they are becoming more popular than they can handle, hence the 30 minute wait for a table and then 30 minutes for a coffee.

“Small Restaurant, Interesting Food, Worth the Wait”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2012

Had breakfast/brunch here on a Sunday. Menu is simple and nothing overly fancy. Coffee is excellent, with lots of choices. Restaurant itself is small, with perhaps 12 tables. Scones are great, along with the egg dishes.

“Best coffee in Hawaii, great food and relaxed and friendly service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

I found an article in Honolulu Magazine on the best coffee shops in Honolulu. The location is not central so would never have found it otherwise and it was a bit difficult to get there but it was well worth it. Starting with the reason I decided to visit, that is the coffee. They offer a lot of options as pour over brews (each cup individually brewed on order). The majority of the coffees served are from Portland based roaster Stumptown, one of the best roasters in the US (many would claim in the world but I would not go that far),but they do also offer local (Hawaiian) coffees mainly (perhaps all?) roasted in-house by owner Eric. All the coffees i had were excellent - they really know how to make coffee.

I was not surprised that the coffee was top class but I did not expect such good food. They have a standard menu with sandwiches (the grilled cheese with gruyere and prosciutto is excellent) but also serve some excellent lunches. It seems to be different dishes every day (but the burgers do seem to re-appear on the menu) and the burgers I had were some of the best burgers I had and by far the best burger on Hawaii. If I visit Honolulu again this would be top of my list of cafes/restaurants to visit.
