“Clean and new”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

THe hotel is so conveniently located across from the beach and within distances to all the good eateries. The rooms are big, and clean, and looks new, (though is a very old hotel.) The receptionists are very friendly and we were happy with the stay.

stayed 2 nights here (marco polo tours) nice location ,across from Waikiki beach...very large property, takes a while to figure out...They charge a resort fee of $25 per couple ,which is a bit odd, and above your room rental....very expensive restaurants ( Asian everywhere) , however ABC stores are numerous , even on floor 3 ( they are good value for sandwiches and wine etc) We enjoyed the pool and services there, nicely done but can get crowded, our room 811 was huge ,with great beach view, but bathroom was dated and toilet leaked..Check out the Rock island cafe outside back entrance ( old style diner with Elvis memorabillia, also Burger King and Subway..we were mislead a bit re shuttle and taxi to airport.....I didn't do my home work ....got a taxi from concierge and ended up paying $45 which they say is normal....ask around and get a quote before you jump in a cab ( we felt ripped off)

We stayed at the Hyatt Waikiki in September. The hotel was fine and staff very pleasant and helpful. BUT - when we left we booked a SpeediShuttle to the airport for the next day at the desk in the Hyatt. To cut a long story short, the shuttle hadn't arrived 30 mins after pick-up time, despite two phonecalls to them from the very helpful bell desk. As we were concerned about missing our flight, we took a taxi to the airport. I've since requested a refund from SpeediShuttle by email (no response) and also wrote snailmail to the Hyatt Manager, commenting on the poor service from a company in their hotel - which then reflects on the Hyatt. After two weeks, no response. I'm surprised at receiving no response, doesn't make for good customer relations.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in mid september in a Deluxe Ocean View room 3308 (33rd floor) with breakfast included. We arrived early around 12 and room wasnt available yet so they said they would call me when it was ready, went for lunch and came back to wait and it was ready at 1pm so we were very happy with that and the check in staff were really lovely and extremely friendly. Our room had views acroos form Dukes statue and excellent views along the beach, very happy with the room, clean and large with sensational views. Comfy beds also.
Breakfast had everything you could want, packed though and a little wait to be seated but was all good.
I loved the location and would not hesitate to recomend this property and would stay here again without hesitation.

Came here with my mother in law to join my husband on his work trip. Great hotel! The beach in front of the property is great! Awesome access to all beach activities you could want. My husband and I went paddle boarding and saw several sea turtles feeding. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. If you go to the pool area you can request beach chairs and towels to take to the beach! Great touch. The staff inside the regency club was always very welcoming. We also had a nice view of the beach from our room. The hyatt property is big and has all amenities you could want. Thank you hyatt!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

Arrived early morning 1 October 2013 to be told our reservation had been cancelled. Front desk staff, Grace, were excellent in helping us call the TA ( very early in the morning in Oz) and after a wait of only about 30 mins the hotel, although being fully booked, found us a room that had been closed due to maintenance . Room was on the 35th floor, with city views, when we had booked and prepaid for a deluxe ocean view room. Naughty hotelbeds! The staff went out of their way to ensure that we were as happy as we could be under the circumstances, even sending up a basket of goodies, waiving resort fees and offering free phone calls. The room was huge and we enjoyed the views. Unfortunately we were unable to open the door to the lanai due to the maintenance being carried out. We like the feel of this hotel. And the location was perfect. Only gripes is the access to reception, which is tricky and the dreadful buffet breakfast that you have to queue for. Don't bother with breakfast here unless it is include. Once again a special big thank you to grace who was fabulous and another special mention to Rose in reservations who tried to help us with the travel agent.

Room Tip: Opt for a high floor

My girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to enjoy a couple of nights at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki during a quick girls' weekend trip to Oahu... and I can't wait til the next time I can stay at this wonderful hotel! Next time it will be with my husband though.

Arrival: We arrived in the morning, registered at the front desk, left our bags and car, and proceeded on a walking shopping spree down Kalakaua. (The hotel itself also has quite the array of shops galore and right next to the international marketplace!) Our bags were at the room when we came back to officially check in later. Throughout the stay we had the pleasure of meeting a few of the staff, but with the valet staff, a gentleman named Michael comes to mind as he was exceptionally helpful on our last day.

Registration: We came back after a long day to check in around 5pm or so... Not because the room wasn't ready but because we had stayed out longer than we had planned. A lovely front desk agent named Chrea (spelling?) checked us in. I also work in customer service, and I have to say, she is exceptional! She was professional, efficient, friendly and hospitable yet also got to connect with us on a personal level but without being too chatty or intrusive... That is a delicate balance to keep, and she did it wonderfully! She also asked for my friend's name (which came in handy later) so as to have us both properly registered to the room. I came down the next day to replace a key that wasn't working, and she remembered me by name even as I walked up to the counter. Amazing service.

And now the room. For starters, if you are thinking of reserving the regency club rooms, PLEASE DO! Or request for a high floor whenever possible. We had fantastic views of the Diamond head and Waikiki Beach from our room up on the 35th floor of the Diamond Head tower! We had requested two beds and we received a room with two double beds which were clean and VERY comfy and were always made by the time we got back. The warm toilet seat and bidet was a nice touch as well!

Amenities: It seems like we had all the amenities we could ask for in the room... even Q-tips and cotton balls in the bathroom... I know it seems so small, but being girls, we had packed even small things like these, and a flatiron, of course... Incidentally... They also offer to lend a flatiron/curling iron among other things. Now again, being girls, we forgot a few essentials at home such as... Our shaving kit. This was provided as well! We were thoroughly impressed by these seemingly little details that made our stay worry-free. (Good thinking, Hyatt)

The club lounge was easily accessible from our elevator, with a spacious area and good selection, with indoor and outdoor seating. For cocktails, note that they have a house selection for the bar, but it works for an evening drink as you start to relax. They offer a variety of drinks in the bars on property also, if that's your scene. Then of course, besides that, is the entire Waikiki area. The lounge got pretty full on Friday night but comfortable and not crowded.

Japengo: was such a great treat that We went there both nights! (Sorry Shor, I'll try you next time) We had the most pleasant server, Micah, on our first night - he definitely went above and beyond to ensure our evening was pleasant. We asked, and he happily gave us some good advice for us ladies wanting to have a nice laid-back Waikiki evening. On the first night, we shared the Szechuan eggplant, Scallops, Red dragon, and one more sushi roll I can't remember and they were all fantastic. The ahi in the rolls were very melt-in-your-mouth delicious, as in fresh.

Swim poolside lounge and its towel station: we always had lunch at the bar, and the bartender, I think his name was Kyle? And his partner whom we met the next day... Both were Very friendly and have been there together for 30+ years! Amazing. That tells me a lot about a property and its staff.

Also a quick note for Francis, a front desk manager, who was sympathetic and efficient in handling the small issue we had with our keys. (Maybe putting them next to our phones or credit cards wasn't really helping?) he also ensured that our stay went well. We were also able to use a hospitality room since it was available... And this helped a lot for two girls gone shopping crazy and in much need of reorganizing and re-packing before a late flight. Mahalo, sir.

All in all... We had a great time, came back relaxed and happy. The staff was wonderful and accommodating, the hotel itself comfortable and elegant.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely.
