3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

The rooms were outdated but clean. Overall I felt like I was in an apartment complex and not a hotel. The service was accommodating and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Location was excellent if you want everything close by.

I stayed here for November 29, 2012 to December 9, 2012. I was in Room 1712 in the Ewa Tower I had a Deluxe Ocean Front room with a king size bed the room was very clean and spacious, the staff were very nice and helpful.
I really enjoyed my stay and will stay here again.

Stayed here while fulfilling my son's Make a Wish so my view may be a little biased, but from what I could see, I'm sure it's pretty accurate for all guests. The staff were nothing but friendly and helpful and although there were restaurants and shops on grounds, they had no problem informing us of some of the other places in and around the area. The rooms were nicely arranged so as to give you a nice open feeling and the ocean views; beautiful as expected. The pool area although not overly large was open until 9pm which is not unusual for most hotels but for this area it is as most close about 3 or 4pm just as you're getting back from your excursions not sure why. I'll definitely add this to my list of places to stay the next time we come back!

Thank you Hyatt.

As part of our package deal with My Hawaii/My Holiday Centre, they booked us into this fabulous hotel. Was expecting not a lot as had read some previous reviews. OMG everything was absolute perfect. We arrived early and left our bags. We booked in late afternoon and the young man was fantastic. Upgraded, champagne and a lei.....we were so excited and appreciative. Thank you so much. Room was beautiful, clean, outlook fantastic. Staff were friendly and especially the lovely ladies in Shores restaurant where we had a superb breakfast each morning & dinner once. Location fantastic, central to everything. Handy with Budget car rental office and ABC shops in building. Again, only fault was it wasn't long enough stay and cant wait to get back.

We just stayed at the Hyatt for night on our last night in Hawaii for our honeymoon. The whole experience went pretty well.
We did get lost trying to find the front desk but when we did we were helped by Lilly. She checked us in and we asked if we could upgraded our room from mountain to ocean. She did this for us with a discount and let us go to the room 3 hours before normal check in time. We stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki a week earlier and they upgraded our roomto ocean Ddeluxe free of charge, but at least she gave us a discount. The room had a Hawaiian feel to it and was quite big. We had tea at the hotel that night which we highly recommend doing, it was the best tea we had the whole 10 nights we were in Hawaii. The beach is across the road and is worth getting a room overlooking that view. The hotel is quite big and easy to get a bit lost but all in all we were glad we stayed there and would recommend to anyone going over.

We've stayed at 2 other resorts at Waikiki and the Hyatt has been the best. We arrived late in the evening and check-in was great. A person named Betty helped us. We had reserved an ocean view room but it was from a vacation package through Alaska Air. We asked Betty if we could get a high floor room with 2 beds and after a few minutes she told us she was ugrading our room to an ocean front on the 23rd floor. At her suggestion we joined the Hyatt Gold Passport program (no cost) and it saved us a lot of money on this trip. Betty was wonderful and our trip got off to a great start. The room was great and had a balcony with a table and chairs and a stunning view. The beds and pillows were the most comfortable ones I have ever slept in. The doors to the rooms were a little annoying - they were really loud when they closed on their own. There was even a sign on the inside of the door requesting you close it slowly so it doesn't disturb anyone, although no one remembed to do so. You could hear doors closing all around us, and I'm sure they heard ours too. I would think engineering could install silencers or adjust the door closers to minimize the noise, but it was really a minor thing. The housekeeping was excellent too. We had snacks and drinks at the pool bar and it was OK, nothing special. We had the buffet breakfast at the SHOR restaurant the last day we were there and wished we had tried it sooner so we could take a little more time to enjoy it. The service and food was excellent as was the atmosphere. There are 3 levels of shops on the property including a great coffee shop, 2 car rental agencies, numerous tour guides and services, and of course 2 or 3 ABC stores. One of the best things we discovered was the beach chairs and towels we could check out at the pool to take to the beach. The beach chairs were very comfortable and had zippered pockets on the back for our items. The lower pocket was insulated and we would fill it with ice to keep our drinks cold. The resort is right across the road fronting the beach, and in a great location. We've stayed at a beach front resort before and the Hyatt is actually better for beach access. The resort seemed huge on their web site but once we got our bearings right it was fine. There are 2 towers on each end that have the rooms and everything else is between them. Again - I can't say enough about the great reception we had at check-in with Betty.

Room Tip: Try and get a high floor as the main drag in Waikiki is very noisy.

The Hyatt Regency Waikiki was in a good central location. It was really nice having a rental car place right there in the hotel. Everyone at the front desk and with the hotel was very nice and friendly. The expedia travel service desk was really busy and slow. We had to wait in line for a really long time. The rooms were not that nice but the bed was comfortable. We got room service for breakfast one morning and it was fantastic. The waiters around the pool were very slow and inattentive. I did have a really good Skinny Pina Colada from the bar by the pool. The people who stayed in the room next to us were very loud when they came in late every night.
