“Fantastic!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

Arrived before the usual check in time.. Offered an upgrade the view was a deluxe full sea view.... Worth every penny.

The room on the 19 th floor of the diamond head tower.
View was just amazing
Huge room and bed. The bathroom
was small but had everything you needed.
Spotless room with flowers was a nice touch.
The wifi was fast and easy to connect.
Yes there is resort fee but it hardly breaks the bank.
You get free calls, wifi and water..... All at a reasonable cost.

Really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of the hotel.
Make sure you check out the pool on floor 3.... Great pool area and nice place for lunch.

When it came to check out there was one small problem over the tax.
This was soon cleared up and the service from the front desk manager Danielle was very professional..... We were soon off on our cruise.
Very much looking forward to our return trip.

My husband and I stayed two nights at the Hyatt Waikiki. The hotel has a nice lobby area and lots of shops in the lower floors. The rooms were not large but they suited us just fine. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room as we were out exploring the island most of the time. It has great beach access and there are a lot of restaurants in the area. Our favorite was Duke's. Reasonable price and good food.

Our likes:
- They let us check in quite early in the day. We arrived at 10 am and were given a room right away. I was shocked and pleased.

- Our flight left for the mainland late our last day. The checkout time was 11am and we were worried about leaving our luggage in our car since there are a lot of warnings about theft on the island. They kept our luggage for us at the bell desk while we went and enjoyed the beach. When we were ready to pack up and head to the airport they allowed us to use a hospitality suite for 30 minutes to clean up so we didn't have to fly home covered in sand and salt water.

- We had a mountain view on the 30th floor. We couldn't hear any noise from the street.

- We were able to purchase our room using American Airline miles.

- I liked the layout of the bathrooms. Nice sink separate from the tub and toilet.

Dislikes
- We were in room 3068 which is right next to the elevators. It was loud all the time. You could hear the elevators going up and down every few seconds. Unless you are hard of hearing or can sleep through anything be sure to request to stay in another room. Our hospitality suite was also right next to the elevator and it was very loud too. They should have made these rooms into storage closets or something. It was very distracting at all times - day and night - that you were in the room.

Overall it was a nice hotel and we would have enjoyed our stay much more if we had not been right next to the elevators. The hotel's layout is a bit confusing and we had a hard time finding the front door (beware of all the one way streets) and the location of the elevators to get to our room. They had a map but it wasn't really very helpful.

To get to the "front door" where you can park while checking in

From Kalakaua Ave (one way) take a left turn onto Kanekapolei St.
Take the next right and go along the back side of the hotel.
The very next street is Uluniu Ave (one way) take another right.
The entrance is about half way down the block on the right. The parking garage is also located on this street although it is on the left side of the street.

I have stayed at this property perhaps 40 times since 1985 and still find it nice. As a diamond member of Hyatt Gold Passport, this hotel really caters to my needs. The upgraded room to Regency Club Ocean View, the various hotel discounts, the laundering of gym clothes are all wonderful benefits. The regency Club on the 3rd floor is wonderful, nice breakfast, very nice food service in the evening, cocktails out on the lanai at sunset and a knowledgeable and service oriented staff make a Club room mandatory at this hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms that face toward the other tower of the hotel, there is a real wind tunnel effect...

I came here with a friend for one night early in November. We had a corporate rate and they upgraded us at check in to a room on a high floor with a great view north towards diamond head. We requested a late check out but Andy, the receptionist, could not honor our request Instead, he offered the use of a hospitality room to change in and shower in prior to our departure. We accepted. Andy was a great welcome to the hotel - very genuine and seemed excited that we were there. I really liked our room. It felt clean and modern, the view was great, and i liked the comfortable patio furniture where I sat and admired the sunset over waikiki beach. The bathroom had clearly been renovated - this was in contrast to the hospitality room. All the amenities in each of the rooms were the same, but the bathroom in the hospiatity room was dated, though perfect acceptable for our purposes. My bed was comfortable and I got a great sleep. In addition, despite the high floor we were on (37 out of 40), we never had to wait long for an elevator.
We did not eat in any of the restaurants so cannot comment on the quality.
Overall, I loved the location of the hotel, the people were friendly, and the room comfortable. What more could one ask?

Room Tip: get a high floor and try not to get a low numbered room on your floor -these tend to be next to the...

Visited the Hyatt Waikiki mid October for a 4 night stay in Mid-October for our 30th anniversary . We booked an ocean front room through Costco, which is an outstanding value given the rate plus add-ins. The room was as advertised, in the Diamond Head Tower, with a wonderful view of the ocean and beach. The room was nice. The air conditioning was a little weak-we pretty much had it on full tilt the entire stay- but adequate.

Shor restaurant was quite good for both breakfast and dinner. The elevator problem noted by earlier reviews appears completely resolved- we never waited longer than 90 seconds (usually faster though) for any elevator.

I think the most memorable part of our trip was their staff. I've never stayed in a hotel with more friendly people. From check in to check out, everybody always had a smile and an enjoyable conversation.

The 2 ABC stores and Budget rent a car outlet were convenient, and prices at other stores were reasonable given the location. And the free lounge chairs for the beach was nice.

I would definitely book again, particularly if the Costco package was available.

My husband and I stayed here for a week recently, and found the Hyatt to be quite average. It's in a great location (right across from Waikiki beach), but quite outdated and undergoing construction. We requested a king room, yet were told, upon arrival, that none were available, and were instead given a room with 2 double beds (as if 2 adults can sleep comfortably in a double bed!?). We requested a change in rooms, but were told this wouldn't be possible due to all king rooms being accounted for already. Great.

We paid well over $300 a night for an ocean view room, and did have an ocean view, but just from one corner of the balcony--kind of disappointing. As for room service, we only attempted to order twice, and would you believe... they're batting .0 in that department (didn't show up with the food either time!). Sort of shocking.

Parking is across the street in a TIGHT garage--thankfully, valet is an option. The pool area is very nice and where we chose to spend a lot of time. The service people at the pool are kind and do actually deliver food/beverages (unlike room service). They are stocked on towels, beach chairs, etc.

Buffet breakfast is costly and just as good as the buffet at Duke's just across the street, which costs only $15 per person and is on the ocean.

Overall, this is mid-grade Waikiki hotel. Next time, we will spend the extra $100-$150 a night to stay at the Royal Hawaiian, Halekulani, or Surf Rider.

Room Tip: Apparently, rooms on the 35th floor and up are recently updated (though cost more).
