“The Best Ramen!!! And it's fresh!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

I love ramen. And I love Ezogiku Ramen. But the one at the Waikiki location is the best one for me. I tried all other varieties, but the charsiu is my ultimate favorite. The noodles are fresh and you don't get that "cardboard box" taste. The soup is just right. Not oily or salty. And the servings are humongous! My kids are picky but they can't get enough of the fried rice and gyoza. This place has been my kid's new favorite place.

“Love the Ramen and Gyoza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

This place looks like a hole in the wall but has delicious japanese
noodles and dumplings at a very reasonable price.

“Basic Ramen”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

I am a ramen monster (pronounced lamen). I buy raw ramen in Japan, bring it and cook at home. I am sure I am pretty qualify to say this ramen restaurant is acceptable. And only acceptable, not more.

The restaurant is very basic, as in most ramen restaurants in Japan. So I don’t find the old fitting an issue. I always order the basic miso ramen. Miso is made from beans. And sometimes the miso soup base can easily get very salty. So how to manage the saltiness requires high skills. At Ezogiku the saltiness is fine. But the noodle is not fresh enough nor tender enough. The soup is not hot enough. The pork is fine though, not too fatty but soft.

Miso soup base is more popular in Hokkaido, northern Japan where climate is cold. Soy sauce and salt base is more popular in Tokyo area. Pork soup base (white color) is more popular in Kyushu, southern Japan, and noodle there is more straight and dry.

If you look for a basic noodle, this restaurant is fine.

“No frill... good noodle!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

If you are looking for a simply good and cheap noodle, this is a place for you! The staff is frieandly and pleasant! There are many different types of ramen. Combo of fried rice and gyoza is $5 and quite tasty!

There is no view or ambience here... just simply good noodles!

“Best Ramen on Oahu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012 via mobile

Every time we visit Honolulu we make it a point to make to ezogiku at least once. The food is the best but the atmosphere is a little sketchy. The wait staff is friendly. They have another location, upstairs at the mall food court, but this older location is our favorite. You'll notice a lot of locals eat here too. Besides the ramen, the fried rice and Goya are awesome as well. Yum.
