We had a 2-night stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach at the beginning of June 2009, and we were pleasantly surprised by this property. We paid $103 per night for a 1-bedroom suite, booked directly through the Marriott website. What a great bargain for a very nice suite. The suite was spotlessly clean. The king bed was extremely comfortable. There were two flat screen TV's, a couch that could be pulled out into a queen bed, a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator and a coffee maker with free coffee supplies. The large bathroom had ample counter space, sink, toilet, and tub/shower. We had a lanai, with no real view to speak of - it is a city, after all, but it made for a nice place to sit and enjoy our morning and evening cocktails.
The buildings that comprise the Courtyard have an older look about them, but once you are in your room, you will see that the interiors are very nicely appointed. Additionally, the front desk staff was excellent; they were all smiles, and very willing to please. The suite that we were first assigned (Room 952) had a broken air conditioning unit (it was blowing hot air), so I returned to the front desk, where they immediately reassigned us to Room 753, which had fully functioning A/C, which we kept at 64 degrees for the duration of our stay. The only minor complaint that I will note is that the walls are very thin, but if you are prepared for this, as I was (i.e. bring earplugs so that you will be able to sleep soundly), then you will enjoy your stay. The housekeeper that took care of our suite was excellent. Our room was cleaned before 11AM each morning.
The public areas of the property are very attractive. The lobby has a modern, sleek look about it. There are two pools; the main pool is off of the hotel lobby, and there is a very small heated saltwater pool located in the tower that houses the suites. There is free internet access available in your room (wired, not wireless), and there are also two terminals for free internet access and a printer in the hotel lobby. Wireless internet access is available in the hotel lobby and pool area, but I was unable to log on because the wireless signal was too weak. There is an on-site coin-operated laundry facility for guest use (2 washers and 2 dryers; cost $2 to wash and $2 to dry). Washers and dryers are very clean and appear to be well-maintained.
The location of this property is great, just two blocks from the beach. You are within walking distance of anything that you might need - shopping, dining, the beach. There is also a bus stop 1/2 block from the hotel. I will definitely be staying here again in the near future.
