“Bring ear plugs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Great location. Many resturants nearby, including PF Changs with reduced price food menu 11A to 5P. Friendly staff. Decent pool. Very good workout room. Main complaint : Noise. On busy road, direct route for every fire truck or emergancy vehicle. It doesn't matter much if you leave sliding glass door open or closed, because the glass door has thin single pane glass. If you want a quiet place to stay, I would try and get a block or two away from Kalakaua Ave.

Great price for the location, cleanliness and service. Rooms were clean al biet a little dated.

Staff were AMAZING. Always friendly and willing to help. We booked all out tours through the concierge and were happy with the companies recommended.

Located on the better side of town, 5-10 minute walk to the beach and main strip. 2 minute walk to the bus stop and a 20 minute walk Ala Moana shopping centre. Generally one of the first to be picked up and first to be droped off on tours.

Rooms can be a little noisy if the balcony door is left open and there are only two computers in the lobby, so there can be a bit of a cue for their use.

Room Tip: Chose a room higher up if you're a light sleeper.

We chose this hotel for its location to both the beach and walking distance to shops and the mall. There were three adults in the studio suite with kitchenette with micro/convection oven, two burner ceramic cooktop, granite counters, mini fridge and fully equipped. Although we didn't cook the fridge and microwave were a bonus for breakfast foods. We were on the 14th floor with a balcony overlooking Fort Deroussy park and a partial ocean view. It was lovely for a morning coffee. Yes it was a little noisy with traffic if the door was open but quiet at night. The staff are AMAZING, some of the best I have ever met, so friendly! The hotel has a small fitness room on the 1st floor, a wonderful HEATED pool with loungers and an area to BBQ if you want to cook. The Protea restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, it small only a few tables but the breakfasts are yummy. We would definitely stay at the Luana again.

Reserved 3 month in advance and it was definately a good deal.
Place : Only 5 mn walk to the lively central road. 3mn to Eggs'n Things. 30sc to Bus Stop.
Room : Simple, clean, and wood furnitures with pinapple carving added a charm. Spacious shower room with folding cuchon chair ( accessible for wheelchair users) was very comfortable. No bathtub.
View : Great view thanks to the park next to this hotel. Beyond the green with few people, you see half ocean view and the other half of hotels by the sea. Loved reading books at this balcony.
Accommodations : Cozy size pool is quiet and comfortable for sunbathing. Gym. Small cafe for the Illy coffee and pastry.

If you want to spend money more on activity and foods, this is just what you need for comfortable stay in Waikiki, isn't it?

First saw the hotel while visiting family who were guests at the hotel and were impressed by the quality of the rooms for the price. Early in March we stayed at the hotel while on Oahu for business. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. I had read reviews commenting about no WiFi in the room so brought my own wireless router for use during the stay. Much to my surprise I didn't need it - the room had free WiFi.

Parking charges are comparable to other hotels in Waikiki ($25 I think) so we did not use that particular service. Being retired military we get discounted parking at the Hale Koa Hotel where we parked our car. This hotel is very close to that parking lot so was perfect for our needs.

Next time we have to overnight on Oahu this will be our choice.

We were very happy with our choice to stay at this Outrigger Hotel for an 8 night stay. We wanted someplace near the beach and central to downtown. Our room faced the City Park side on the 14th floor. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the early morning and late afternoon watching the traffic coming onto Kalakaua Ave into the city. (It's amazing how much traffic pours into the city on a daily basis! A little noise - but not unbearable.) It was a pleasant 8 minute walk to the beach.

The studio room was well suited with a 1/4 sized refrigerator, a couple coffee mugs, a smattering of flatware and dishes to use with take out or basic no-cook food items. There's also plenty of space to store away your clothing items, shoes, and luggage. We asked for extra pillows and got them without a blink of an eye. Each room had a dish rack and dish soap for our use. Our bed was fairly comfy, too.

We did work from our room part of the time, so having internet included with our rental was very handy. There was plenty of room to work at the table near an outlet, on the couch, or even on the deck with a cup of coffee.

The front desk staff was nice enough, but not always readily attentive to you when you walk in. Once or twice I waited with another guest for someone to come out to assist us. We parked our car valet the whole week, so the valet staff knew & greeted us daily. We even got suggestions for food places once or twice from them.

NOTE: The front desk has beach towels for guest use - towel return on 1st floor near the pool entrance.

We would definitely come back another time in the future. Mahalo for the great stay.

Room Tip: High floors help with the noise level.

We spent three nights at the Outrigger Luana after a 7 day cruise. We upgraded to an ocean view and were given a condo, with a king bedroom, living, and kitchen area. Wonderful space for the price. We were on a corner so we had an ocean view from the living area and a city view from the bedroom. Both opened out to the balcony with 4 chairs and 2 side tables. The staff could not have been nicer. We opted to rent a car, and use the valet parking, and we never waited more than a few minutes to drop off or pick up. It's not a bad walk to the beach through Fort Debussy Park, but if you want to be right "on the beach" this hotel is not for you. For the space, you cannot beat the price! The on site restaurant closed at 2:00 so you have to explore Waikiki for dinner options. We definitely enjoyed our stay!
