“Resort Fee is a complete joke - this is not a resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

It's a hotel in Waikiki, not a resort. It is not on the beach, the beach across the street is a little baby beach, you need to walk down the street ten minutes to get to the real beach.
A "resort" implies things like beach chairs and umbrellas, there are none available here.
A complete rip-off, you still have to pay $$$ for parking on top of the resort fee.
Pools are tiny and dated, no place to really swim, just little splash pools.

Would not recommend.

Room Tip: the back tower is a dump

I have seen some complaints about the facility. We enjoyed a week at this location and had little to complain about. Yes, it could use a bit of an upgrade but the Marriott has a good breakfast buffet and cocktail service out by the pool. We enjoyed a partial ocean view with a large lanai. The hotel was well booked due to the Honolulu Marathon and Pearl Harbor week. We were well taken care of. We like the location as it was directly across from a part of the beach that was not crowded with people. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Go for at least a partial ocean view.

We stayed here for two nights prior to a cruise. The hotel has good restaurants, large and clean rooms with balconies, and a good location close to the beach and shopping. The pool area is well maintained and not too crowded. The included breakfast buffet was good, and not overly crowded if you get there before 8:30

Unbelievable!

I am an Elite Marriott member. I usually stay at full-service Marriott's due to the service & amenities. This one should NOT be a full-service Marriott.

Waited for drinks in the bar. Went over & told the waitress that we'd like drinks every 15 minutes or so....and we'd tip well. She NEVER came. (In 2 hours!)

Room needed remodeled bad. We checked in at 4:00 & checked out at 9:00 that night. Went down the street & checked in at Outrigger Reef on the Beach. MUCH nicer!

You pay $300+ per night and you expect Marriott quality and at minimum good service. You will find better quality limited service rooms for sure. Ratty room conditions and the attitudes of most staff we've encountered was less than acceptable. Unhappy, pushy people who could care less. I am very disappointed. Does not meet Marriott expectations whatsoever. Area is also over ridden with homeless lying on the streets. Choose a different section of the island. Learn from our mistake. Norwegian cruise line recommended it but they were wrong and we will let them know.

stayed here Sept 16-23 2014. had an ocean view room. Clean room, had a great time. Property is in a great location, right across the street from Waikiki beach. Was on the island for a buddies golf trip. Sept is the perfect time of year to be in Hawaii.

I got a great rate so I thought I'd give this one a go. I'll get what I didn't like off my chest first. Good rate = smallest room with no view and a rumbling air conditioner running 24-7 outside the window. It also means you MUST pay the "resort fee" which is clearly an OPTIONAL feature when reviewing their activities newsletter. My room's shower / bath drained slowly while taking showers. The air/heat would not adjust to my desired temperature and I froze the first couple of nights. I called for service and returned to a COLDER room. The decor is completely dated and average. You get a better room at a Holiday Inn Express/suites. There are lots of great 4* hotels in Waikiki that are so much better. Try the Modern for cool digs or the Prince for great ocean and Marina views from every room.
So what is good? While NOT on the beach it is across the street. It is near the Zoo. And the poolside bar is reasonably priced.
I'd only recommend this place if you are in a huge group
