“Nice and dependable hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

This hotel is in the center of touristy Waikiki yet it serves as a good base in Honolulu. It is right across the beach and 5-10 minute walking distance from shopping, Dukes, basically all the action. It was my second stay here – for business. The hotel is nice and well maintained. The rooms are spacious and adequate – very comfy bed! The hotel also has an ABC store, restaurants, Hertz rental car and other useful resources. I recommend this hotel for 1-2 day stays but as I tell all my friends – rent a car and get out of Waikiki. It’s beautiful around the island.

Loved staying here. Our original room (oceanview on 18th Floor) had spider issues but it was promptly taken care of by the staff, they offered us another room or to clean our room. Central location. Will stay there again but maybe in the new tower unless this tower is renovated. Wish the pool was bigger given the size of the hotel and demand for the pool.

This was our second time staying here. Check-in was quick and simple. Room was great with a beautiful ocean view. Was able to have complimentary buffett breakfast every morning. Would not have paid the high-price everyday if it was not complimentary, but it was good food with great service. The servers remembered your names and your likes (beverages, etc) every morning, just like on a cruise ship. The free Mai Tai's were not good, don't even bother. The appetizers at the bar/poolside were not the best either, would rather spend my money somewhere else. Would definitely return for the great accommodations!

Room Tip: Get an ocean view room.

My wife and I and our 6 year old boy just had 12 nights at the Marriott Beach Resort Waikiki and loved it. Some people must be very hard to please, as we found everything to be fantastic, given that Waikiki is such a busy bustling place. With 1,310 rooms in the hotel there will be times when check-in is slow, but I believe it is just unlucky timing to do with what time you arrive, Our check-in was reasonably swift. My tip is to buy a cheap room online and upgrade when you get there - it is a cheaper way to do it. We booked a room in the Paokalani Tower, which is cheaper, and then upgraded to the Kealohilani Tower for a lot less than if we had paid for that room online. Pool service at the pool was great and friendly and the beach is only a short walk across the road. We would stay there again and thoroughly recommend it. If finances permit it, obviously the hotels right on the beach, and near the good shops, are the pick of the crop at Waikiki, but the Marriott Beach Resort is very good in my view.

Room Tip: Get a room in the Kealohilani Tower when you get there (or book it online). It is the better tower t...

We stayed here post cruise and prior to our flight to Kauai. When we got off the ship it was early morning. When we arrived at the hotel, there was no one working the elite desk and there was a line for check in, which was very slow. Once we reached the check in desk, there were no rooms available for early check in but said they would call us if one become available before 3pm (there check in time). We were there at 9am. So, we checked our luggage and walked around Waikiki. Had lunch at a local restaurant which was suggested by the guys at curbside. Which I wish I would have asked for their names because they were better than a concierge desk! Finally received a room (nope it was 3pm nothing earlier!) and once again had to stand in a line to get our room. We were upgraded to a very nice room. Next morning we left for Kauai and checked some of our luggage in their luggage storage, since we had so much from our 2 weeks cruise(this is a great service if you are island hopping). Took a taxi to airport and once again the guys out front ensured we received a straight rate for taxi service. On our return from Kauai we stayed here again prior to our flight home. Same thing about check in. Our flight arrived at 9:00 am, and there were no rooms available. The check in line was long. We got our room at 2:45 and had to stand in line again. while waiting for our room, once again the curbside guys were fantastic, giving us suggestions on things to do. They are the hotel's asset!! We were upgraded again but not quite as nice a room as the first night. Marriott should look into the $25 resort fee. Those of us that are platinum really don't receive anything. We are entitled to free wifi anyway. They gave me one breakfast coupon....did they think my husband didn't want to eat? They don't provide taxi service to airport. So, I think they could do away with the fee. The hotel is big! The view of the beach is fantastic, but it is across the street from Waikiki beach, not directly on it. But all you have to do is walk across the street. Would definitely stay here again.

Very decent massive twin tower property. I'd recommend the front tower just across the street from Waikiki beach. Of course this is an upgrade and you will pay more. Get up as many floors as you can, eliminates traffic noise. The view from our balcony over Waikiki beach was excellent. As with any name brand property drinks and restaurants prices are high. All in all I had a very nice 4 night stay.

Beautiful views, amenities, location and resturants. Great location on the less crowded part of Waikiki near the zoo. There is a Hertz rental agency in the hotel as well as a drug store and mall. he only negative is check in is time consuming.
