“Less expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

Perfect place if you are trying to stay in Waikiki on a budget. It's a little dated, but clean, quiet, comfortable and the rooms are moderately spacious. The staff here are 5 star folk - very kind, helpful and polite. It's also a great choice if you are intending on being out of the hotel most of the day. The beach and Honolulu Zoo are right across the street. If you have a car, the valet allows free in/out privileges and will leave your car by the door if you are just running in and out. The hotel will also allow you to store your luggage at the hotel before or after your check-in/out time if you need them to. Free Wi-Fi in the lobby. A sushi bar is also in the lobby.

There are 2 ABC stores nearby - 1 accessible from the lobby and the other near the hotel's valet. You're just 6-7 blocks from the Waikiki Strip (lest than a 10 minute walk). The hotel is a KOA member and part of the Aqua brand of hotels.

The Park Shore Waikiki is situated at the end of a long strip of hotels along the Waikiki Beach which is wonderful because it is quiet and still a great location. You literally walk across the street and are at the beach. The hotel provides you with beach towels which is a great service since once you are done for the day, you trade them in for clean ones. They also have beverages in the lobby; coffee & water in the morning and guava juice & ice water in the afternoon which is wonderful after coming back from enjoying a day at the beach. The staff was super-friendly & accommodating and you can plan & schedule tours with a representative from Expedia in the lobby. We had breakfast twice and coconut shrimp for lunch once at Lulu´s which is located on the second floor which was really good and we had dinner once at the Japanese restaurant located in the lobby & enjoyed some really good traditional Japanese cuisine. There is also a sandwich shop adjacent to the lobby of the hotel and a Starbucks a few feet away. The only reason why I gave the Park Shore 4 out of 5 stars is because of the layout of the room. I felt it was a little tight and there was no table to sit at to enjoy a snack, etc., and I would highly recommend they add a clothes line with a retractable cord in the showers to hang wet swimsuits, but for the price (we purchased a flight+hotel package) it was a great value and the location was perfect. The rooms were very clean and I was impressed at how clean the lobby and elevators were kept since the beach is right there and I would have thought there would be sand everywhere. I would definitely go back to and highly recommend the Park Shore Waikiki.

Room Tip: We didn´t have a view because it was an additional $75 a night, but I´m sure it would have been wond...

We had a quick 2 night stopover here on our way to New Zealand to visit our son. We loved this hotel! We arrived early but were able to check in and were even upgraded to a Diamond Head Suite, which gave us a fantastic balcony view of both Diamond Head and the beach. This room had a living area with sofa and large flat screen TV, kitchenette area with small fridge, microwave, and sink. It appears that everything has been recently renovated. We spent many hours just sitting on the balcony and enjoying the sights. We could even see the flamingos floating on a pond in the zoo, and hear the monkeys and the elephants! One small negative of the Diamond Head suites is that they also overlook the large air conditioning units on the roof. This doesn't affect the view, but they are noisy. We ate breakfast one day at the restaurant, LuLus, with seats overlooking the beach. I really enjoyed the pineapple cream stuffed French toast with Macadamia nuts! We also frequented the Starbucks that was right next to the hotel, as well as the ABC store for quick souvenirs. The hotel had valet parking for our rental car, which cost $25 a day/plus tip. I've seen other reviews refer to this location as the 'quiet end' of Waikiki. I don't think I would call this area quiet by any means, although the traffic did slow down later in the evenings.

We were fortunate enough to choose to stay at this hotel which is at the other end of the beach from many of the others to choose from. It was the best choice we made as we not only had the views, the beach and access to the attractions at Waikiki we had some wonderful staff to help us, including the cleaning staff, and these factors made this the trip of a lifetime.

Room Tip: On Monday nights Lulu's is open to 2am so be prepared if you are located nearby. Having come fr...

This hotel is located right on Waikiki beach, at the Diamond Head end, next to Honolulu Zoo. The result of the location is that the feeling is more peaceful than the centre of the hotel strip, and there are uninterrupted views of Diamond Head as well as the beach.

We stayed in the "one bedroom ocean view suite" which several staff told us was the best room in the hotel - it was certainly the most expensive, but still very competitively priced when compared with the more famous hotel options on Waikiki beach. The view is not 180 degrees, as it is blocked on one side by the other wing of the hotel - but it is still an absolutely stunning view and made us happy spending plenty of time in the room. The "one bedroom Diamond Head Suite" would also be a good choice - less ocean but a great view of Diamond Head.

The suite has a properly separate living area - doors can be closed between bedroom and living area, meaning we could stay up after our three year old went to bed. You can sit on a comfortable couch and gaze at the sea. This is worth the cost for this room. The two generously sized lanais both have great views. The quality of the interior furnishings and fittings is very high - the room has been recently renovated and is maintained to a high standard and scrupulously clean. In terms of furnishings the only thing missing is for one of the lanais or the living area to have a table that one could sit upright and eat at, rather than eating our cereal on our laps!

Despite being described online as an apartment with a kitchenette, this is a hotel suite not a condo. In particular, the kitchenette consists only of a microwave, toaster and smoothie maker - no real cooking facilities or equipment - which would not answer the description of a kitchenette in Australia. However, when we complained about this to the hotel staff and pointed out the online description, every possible step was taken to address the issue, including lending us the portable hotplates used to cook staff meals! Also, we were told the online description would be changed, and hence I have not let this point affect the high rating that this hotel otherwise deserves. The free wifi worked well, except for the fact that it was too slow for camera/ipad connectivity, and there was no way to fix this. The hotel staff were very helpful and followed up well on any issues.

There is no room service but the kitchenette was sufficient to allow self catered breakfasts, and the (rather Aussie named) "Tucker and Bevvy" shop downstairs sells great quality, though not cheap, take away sandwiches, smoothies and snacks.

The hotel pool is not fancy but was nevertheless a hit with our three year old and has a nice outlook over Waikiki. In general the hotel is of an older style, but well kept up and with rooms renovated, so that the general feeling is laid back and pleasant.

The beach directly opposite the hotel is enclosed by a sea wall, making it good for toddlers but to have a real swim in the waves you need to walk back towards the centre of Waikiki, but this did not bother us as it's a very short distance and a pleasant walk. If you want to catch the "pink line" trolley to Ala Moana shopping centre, the length of the journey will be shorter if you take it from near the hotel rather than walking into the centre of Waikiki. The smell of cooking meat from the ventilation systems of nearby restaurants was an occasional annoyance, however it was something we noticed frequently elsewhere in Waikiki as well.

This hotel is right on Waikiki Beach, which was very convenient. The rooms are small, but clean and quiet. When we arrived we were informed that they only had a room with double beds even though we had booked 6 months in advance for a king (our anniversary). They informed us that the beds were conditional on availability upon arrival (first come first serve). We asked if an upgrade was possible and they said for a fee and said they could be fired if they helped us ("I could lose my job"). We asked for a manager and they were able to "make it work" for no extra cost. This was greatly appreciated, but the soured the first impression of the hotel. Our hotel room was facing Diamond Head and the beach. It was a gorgeous view. I did not like that valet parking was the only option and mandatory, but it is understandable given the location. They allowed us to have a courtesy room after we checked out since we had to wait for our flight. This was we were able to clean up and relax before hitting the road to the airport. Very helpful.
