“Maile Sky Court, Oahu, HI”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2012

If you are looking for a posh resort, this isn't it. However, if you are a smart traveler who would rather spend your money on sightseeing and great restaurants, then by all means, stay at the Maile Sky. The staff is super friendly and will go out of their way to help you in any way you need. The rooms are small, but adequate for vacationers who only sleep there and are gone all day. It is very near the beach at Waikiki, but back enough to avoid the beach traffic and noise. We stayed there on the "Snooze and cruise" arrangement. We stayed two nights before leaving on our Hawaiian Island cruise on the Pride of America and returned there when we returned to Oahu after the 7 night cruise. Our auto, room, and parking were all included. Our only real complaint was the air conditioner was loud and didn't cool the room very well. If you go, just get everything spelled out in print that is included before you go, so there will be no questions once you are there. Also, if you go, say "hello" to Raymond at the front desk. He's the Best!

Room Tip: Go for the ocean view room - it's only a few dollars more and totally worth it!

I stayed here for 10 nights from Dec 3 2011. I checked in late after a long flight, really tired. Must say i didnt get the Aloha spirt when i checked in, and at no time after did I. First the room....i stayed in room 901. When i checked in i asked for a upgrade but was told they were full...ok that happpens no harm in asking and not their fault. (Honolulu Marathon on my 2nd weekend there) I had a city view . Back to the room. It is an older hotel, that does tend to show its age in room appearance and funiture. The A/C is window mounted and i had no lanai or balcony. As stated by others the rooms are very small. I was travelling by myself so thats not really a problem, but if you are staying as a couple the room can get abit tight. But that was fine with me. The tv was an older style and the bed was fine. No problems with bugs or not getting the room made up each day. After a long flight was so hoping to have a long hot bath, but my room came with a shower only...again, not their fault but sure wish i had a bath...could of used that. Anyway, if you need new towels just leave them in the shower and they are replaced.

There is an in room safe that is $3 per day. They also charge $1 for local calls which is without doubt a rip off. The Aloha spirit. I interacted many times with the front desk and the tour desk....they sure do need some retraining. More so the tour desk. Seemed so uninterested in what i was asking and no help at all...sorry i was wasting your time, didnt mean to take you away from what you were not doing...VERY disappointing!!!!!!! They sure could use some new staff there. There is a bar and a restaurant on site but i didnt visit either so i could not advise you. You can also do your laundry on level 3.

They do have on site parking, but it its $18 per day. Not that you can get it much cheaper anywhere else. So if you add up the room rate, the safe per day the local calls and the parking, it starts to hurt the pocket abit. I had planned to stay on the cheap but it does add up.

The location is great though. Its only minutes away from the beach, shopping and great places to eat. Shopping and eating within easy walking distance. There is an ABC shop across the corner (like every corner in Waikiki almost) and another same type of shop across the other corner. If you need gas for your rental there is a gas station close buy.

All up i didnt mind the small room or the old tv or the old style funiture. I didnt go to Waikiki to stay in my room. I was there for the Pearl Harbour 70th celebrations. I was out most of the time. I just didnt like all the extra costs that add up, and the poor staff. Would i stay here again?????
Well Im sure i would look elsewhere before i came back...i would come back but only if i could not find the same cost and better staff.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade...you never know!!!!!

Needed one night before flying out and Dec 30, Waikiki is full to overflowing. Got a room here at a good rate. No complaints about that. On the 21st floor with view straight out to sea. Window actually opened about 6 inches - fabulous (I hate sealed rooms). Like others - water drainage (in my case, from the shower) was really slow. Room was dated, tired - desperately needed new bed cover - mine was covered in sewing machine zigzag stitch where it had torn, and there were more tears all over it. Blanket edging so odd it had shredded. Time for a makeover guys. Bed was fine.

Room Tip: It's hard to buy off a website. If you don't like the room, or find it wanting, I'd talk...

We only stayed one night before leaving on a cruise (Pride of America). We had a cozy (small) room located on the 32nd floor. The view was gorgeous…we could see the beach as well as Diamond Head. The room was clean, and the staff was friendly. There was a mini fridge and microwave in the room. The bathroom was quite small. The room could use a makeover, but overall, we were satisfied with our room. It's a budget room, which we were aware of. Even if we were to stay more than one night, the only time we would spend in the room is to sleep so the size didn’t matter to us. The location was close to the beach, public transportation, and shopping. We would stay here again and recommend this hotel to the budget traveler.

The Sky Court is not the plushest place to stay in Waikiki, but the prices are great for that part of town. At less than $100, there are few places you can stay in the area for this price. The rooms are a little small, and they are cooled with window ACs instead of central AC. They were clean, although possibly in need of a little face lift. The location is great. Directly accross Fort DeRussey green space from the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the beaches. The best shopping and other attractions in Wakiki are an easy 5 minute walk from the front door. My only compaint was that the drains were slow. It took 20-30 minutes for the bath to drain after a shower.

Overall, if you are traveling on a budget, the Sky Court is a good place to stay in a great location.

I would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone. The location is awesome, there is an ABC store accross the street and another one next door. There is a famous Thai restaurance a few feet away and another restaurant attached to the hotel, they are pricey as is everywhere else. The staff is helpful and the tour guide on site is wonderful. The international market, the beach, and major shops are within comfortable walking distance.

Room Tip: mine was 3607 and the view was astonishing. Diamond head, beach, canal, and so much more by looking...

Maile does not even rate one star.We had reservations for 3, no bed for third person, got cot.Bugs! Housekeeping was unsatisfactory, room not clean. Room way less than Motel 6's worst property.

Room Tip: Stay awayfrom this hotel.
