“Great eats, great setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Took the family here after visiting Pearl Harbor, so we were starving. We ordered half of the menu, including appetizers and dessert. The staff was very friendly, even going so far as to play a kids movie for our children using their in-house projector while we dined. The food was incredible, the vegan wings, the burgers, fresh taro rolls, drinks were never empty. Our compliments to the chef for the wide variety of foods (vegan, burgers, desserts), all prepared perfectly! Our family asked to come back each remaining day of our trip, that's a great impression!

“Great option for mixed diets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We were really happy to find this place -- my omnivore sister loved her burger, my vegan husband and I had plenty of options (including dessert!). Tourists, be warned -- after sunset, this is not the most . . . refined of neighborhoods. Worth it, though!

“Good Find in Chinatown!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We stopped in for breakfast on New Years Day. The place was empty but soon filled up with what appeared to be regular patrons. We did not get the extra gravy requested or the crispy bacon but otherwise the service was good and the place looked clean.

“Vegan and Carni delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

Unique in that the menu items offered your choice of protien - either real meat or a veg or vegan option. The Greek salad with vegan chicken pesto was amazing. Cool atmosphere and relaxed staff with a decent beer menu. Located in Chinatown for a fun 1st Friday stop.

“Vegetarian Friendly All The Way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Often as a vegetarian you miss out on great diner food…that is not so at Downbeat Diner. Be it burger, BLT, or Loco Moco, at this hip diner in China Town, you can enjoy these any one of these dishes, with a meatless substitute! Oh, and don't forget the curly fries…YUM!
