Stayed for 7 nights in unit 1530.The unit was very well equipped and had lots of staples and there was plenty of space for our belongings.( It would have been nice to have had a dishwasher.) The location was outstanding and the view from the lanai was superb. We loved seeing the Luau every night at the Hilton and we had front row seats for the Friday fireworks.We loved the Ilikai and enjoyed the hotel grounds.
We did have a rental car for our stay and would never do that again because of the parking fees. The best deal is to park at the Marina lot if you come with a car.
The only negative was that the Ilikai pool was always crowded. Over 7 days we could never get a chair at the pool. We felt fortunate that our unit was equipped with beach chairs, etc so we headed to the beach each day instead.
Looking forward to a return visit.

We liked the Ilekai and would come back there. It is conveniently located and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are a little dated and could use an upgrade...especially the kitchen area (if you get one), but it was nice to have; especially for breakfasts. If you're in town for a convention, it has good access on foot and very easy even to walk all the way to Diamond Head (which we did several times. The restaurant at the top (Sorrento) was also very, very good although a bit pricey, but the view is nice and the service, again very pleasant and helpful. The food was also excellent and you get a discount if you're a hotel guest. Its a very short and almost traffic-free walk to the beach and lagoon just behind the hotel. We came away thinking it was a very worthwhile and good experience.

The staff at the Ilikai were very friendly and accommodating! Even the guests at the hotel were so friendly!! meeting and talking to people in the elevator was fun!! The rooms were clean and spacious!! Lots of places walking distance to eat and even shop!! Wish we got to stay there longer.

We think this is the best location in Honolulu. It's away from the craziness of Waikiki, but only a short walk away if you want to get into the tourist scene. And it's walking distance or a short bus ride to all the interesting things that Honolulu has to offer. The Ala Moana Center is only about a 10 minute walk and our favorite store, Don Quijote, is only another 5 minutes.

The hotel has a nice swimming pool and exercise room. The hotel also has a very nice coffee shop with good sandwiches for lunch. The Ilikai Grill has good, reasonable priced food and drinks and live music every night in a great outdoor (mostly covered) setting. And of course there is Sorentos at the top of the Ilikai with fantastic views, good food and drink at fair prices. There is also a convenience store with a variety of items, mostly reasonably priced.

The lobby and courtyard are really comfortable and the staff makes you feel really welcome.

The beach outside the Hilton and Fort Derussy is only a couple of minutes away and is probably the best beach in Waikiki. Even closer is the lagoon, which is great for kids. For serious swimming and a beautiful uncrowded beach, you can't beat Ala Moana Beach, a short walk in the other direction. There are probably 100 places to eat within walking distance of the Ilikai. The city bus system works well and we don't feel there is a need for a car, if you stay at the Ilikai.

We've stayed at probably a half dozen places in Waikiki and the Ilikai is by far the best. The rooms we've stayed in (the ocean side) are quiet enough to leave to lanai doors open all night (we seldom use the A/C)
