“Lovely View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Lovely view from level 25 overlooking beach. Very affordable. Great to amble along beach walk to Waikiki through beach and park. Relaxing and very friendly hotel. Easy walk also to Ala Moana shopping centre. Valet staff arrange shttle to DFS and to meet transfer to Waikele Discount stores. Pool a little cramed but OK and foyer impressive.

Room Tip: Nice view towards Diamond Head

I've always wanted to stay at the Ilikai. Right on the trolley line, next to a great spot on Waikiki beach, and just 2 blocks from Ala Moana Shopping Center, it's an ideal place to enjoy a few days of O'ahu before heading home. My mountain view room wasn't ready when I checked in, so they upgraded me to a kitchenette suite on the 22nd floor with a great city view. Kitchen was fully stocked with clean dishes, pans and silverware, and the bed was very comfy. Air conditioning was tricky to figure out, and kind of noisy. The hotel has multiple stores inside for all your needs. There's a McDonalds right across the street if you don't want to spend bank on a restaurant meal. Wi-fi worked pretty well as far as free wi-fi goes. There is only valet parking at this hotel, and it's $25 a day, very spendy. Still, I had a great stay here, very comfortable, and would return again.

Room Tip: Walk behind the hotel and enjoy the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor and the Hilton's Lagoon beach area. Th...

After reviewing lots of places, I decided to stay here again for my second visit to Honolulu, just because I like the location. Its away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Waikiki which might not suit everyone but suited me. I rented privately this time and was happy with the experience. The room was clean and well looked after and overlooked the marina with an ocean view as well. The hotel was quiet, despite being I suspect full because of the Marathon during the time I was staying. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the Ala Moana Centre which was perfect for me as I went there on a number of days and the bus stop right outside the door was convenient for the days I went to visit Diamond Head and the Iolani Palace (across the road for the one). There is a convenience shop in the foyer, perfect for simple meals and snacks, It's about 15 minutes walk to the main area downtown. The beach is right out the back entrance and around the corner.

Hotel in excellent location near shopping, most tours and buses were found out front. Staff was excellent and rooms were clean. Smaller hotel next to Hawiian Village. Excellent cafe outside facing beach and yauht basin. Hawaii 50 show was filmed there during visit.
Excellent booking of tours, had front row center seat at Polynesian Show( get Ambassador package).

Room Tip: Rooms with kitchen, suggest facing beach;a little noisy streetside.

Centrally located to everything and yet very quiet; you don't need a car; the pictures you see is exactly what you'll experience; very clean rooms; a room safe included; a lovely lanai with the ocean at your fingertips; booking our tours with the hotel concierge was very convenient; the friendly bar/grill at the hotel for casual eating was great and having a lovely restaurant on the top floor for a more romantic experience was a bonus. The staff make you feel at home. There are no surprises here just a fantastic place to stay. We'll be back!!!!

Room Tip: We had a kitchen ocean view and it was perfect for the two of us. Lots of room and overall great exp...

This was our first trip to Oahu. We arrived Dec 1 and stayed until Dec 12. As this was my 50th birthday, i had a whole Hawaii Five-0 theme going for the trip. :-) So it was quite exciting to find out this was the hotel where the opening sequence of Jack Lord from the orginal Hawaii Five-0 series was filmed. We had planned to stay at the hotel for 2 days and then rent a camper van to drive to the North Shore and camp for 5 days before returning to Waikiki for the final 3 days of our trip. Unfortunately, the camper van rental did not turn out but we were able to extend our stay at The Ilikai. The staff was great at accomodating us and we really enjoyed the hotel. It was clean and had a fantastic retro feel to it. The rooms were spacious. We stayed on different sides of the hotel after having to extend our stay. Both sides had views that were equally as beautiful. We enjoyed coffee on the lanai, used the fitness facitliy, walked to the mall, beaches and the military museum. Great value and history.

Room Tip: There is an nominal extra charge for "rooms with a view" but we thought it was well worth...

We stayed at the Ilikai for 11 nights from the end of November 2012. I was expecting quite a good hotel and I wasn't disappointed! Large rooms with everything we needed and a gorgeous lanai with ocean views made our morning coffee all the more wonderful. Check in was a breeze, we booked a tour with the concierge which was easy and cheaper than on line and we ate at both restaurants. The Grill was pretty good - decent food and service. However Sarentos was AMAZING and SO reasonably priced!! We couldn't believe how gorgeous the restaurant was even though we knew it was a Top 50. We went there for our wedding night dinner and they really looked after us.
The convenience store downstairs was excellent and there is an ABC Store, McDonalds, Subway and Red Lobster all within a 2 minute walk.
The walkway along the beach is gorgeous and a wonderful way to get to the main drag of Waikiki. Ala Moana Shopping Centre is a convenient 10 minute walk in the other direction. We hired a car and parked behind the hotel for about $10 for the night.
Great hotel, wonderful restaurants, excellent location, large clean rooms - what's not to love?!
We WILL be back!
