“A challenge trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

Little difficult to do it for people who doesn't exercise at all; however, anyone can do it, because the view is totally worth it. Go before 9am to avoid getting up with many people.

“Go at 5pm when sun is setting, descend before dusk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

I live in Portlock so Ko Ko Head is in the neighborhood. We went at 5PM when sun is no longer strong, and climbed to the top within minutes, with frequent stops to rest. The narrow path can get crowded and those with vertigo (aka yours truly) can get a bit dizzy towards the end, but the views from the top beats everything. Do climb over the concrete building when you first come to the top, to go behind/around the summit to the other side, to check out the crater, coastline and Hawaii Kai valleys which cannot be seen from many other places. Remember to descend before it goes dark because it can really get tricky. The broken bridge part has a side path you can detour around it.
This trail is free of charge, and has plenty parking.

“Up and Down - must do Koko”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

This trail is great fun. Not for the faint hearted, but with a bit of courage, it's a great walk. Be prepared to sweat and don't look down !

“worth the pain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

Go early in the morning while the sun is still at the other side of the mountain; 7 am was already too late on July, 27 - the heat was unbearable and there were too many people. The views on the way up and at the summit were well worth the pain though.
I don't work out but I was still able to do this, so don't be afraid, but you'll probably have to do some breaks to get reacquainted with your bottle of water on the way up.

“Climb till you drop!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

What a climb to the top of Kokohead! And well worth it!! It is not a challenging climb but it is difficult due to the sheer number of steps! The views from the top are worth it, though!
