We had an 11 hour layover in Honolulu on the way back from Seoul and wanted to get out of the airport and explore Oahu. A package tour wouldn't work due to our flight times and we didn't want to bother with trying to drive ourselves and waste time getting lost and looking for parking. We chose Nau Wale No Tours based on the reviews and from the first e-mail everything went flawlessly. My e-mails were answered promptly and they provided suggestions on what to see, including letting me know which stops might not work for an 8 hour tour.
Natalie was our tour guide and was perfect for our group. She was young and friendly but still professional. After picking us up from the airport we went around the North Shore to look at turtles and beaches and then around the coast including a swimming stop at Lanikai Beach, photo op at Pali Lookout, and a quick souvenir stop in Waikiki. She guided us to places she thought would be best based upon traffic and our time constraints, but always gave us plenty of time to look around and wasn't pushy at all (this was a big relief after some of the tour guides we had in Korea). It felt more like having a friend to take us around and show us the little viewpoints and food stands we wouldn't have found on our own. The extra touches such as having beach towels, snacks, and snorkel masks in the van showed that they really wanted us to have a great, worry free time.
While they are a little more expensive than a regular package tour, it wasn't too much more and the benefits of having it completely customized to our needs more than made up for any price increase. All of our stops were free (aside from food) so there were no added charges on top of the tour price.
A tip: If you are going to the North Shore, make sure to ask to stop at the fruit stands. She knows of a great one to pick up fresh pineapple, guava, sugar cane, and much more all for only a couple of dollars per bag.
