“Good insight into historic Hawaii”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

A relatively small museum - you can see everything in an hour or two - that gives a nice overview of Hawaii's history, including of course the royal family, original life styles and work tools, etc. At least when I was there, it was very quiet with few visitors and I could see all exhibits undisturbed.

Certainly worth seeing if you are interested in Hawaii's history (or have read Michener's "Hawaii".)

“Hawaiian Treasure Chest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Not only a beautiful location, but an architecturally beautiful museum. Wonderful , clearly explained exhibits. We only did a small part of the complex, so we'll have to go back. What a cute cafe with an extensive menu, friendly staff, and delicious food!

“A nice little gem of a museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

This museum has a lot of natural history about all of polynesia. Everyone will find something of interest. Kids may find it dry until you head over to the science center where they recreate a lava flow. This made the visit to the museum well worth it. The book store has some terrific finds also

“A Wonderful Presentation of History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

If you have not read anything or seen anything on the history of Polynesia and Hawaii this is the place to go. The displays are stunning and set in an old Hawaii mansion. With the newly renovated planetarium technology has now been stunningly added to the exhibits. Enjoy.
