“Hawaii's history explained”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

First don't take the bus!! We went to Bishop Museum by bus from Waikiki. A little longer than expected. Once we got to the end of the line finding the museum was easy. Unbeknown to us it was the last day of the bugs exhibit. This made great entertainment for the pre teens. The main house that holds the history exhibits was fascinating and the history talk was very enlightening. We now have a better understanding of the history of Hawaii from Cook to US annexation. The Planetarium shows were informative and educational with audience participation. Even the Physics major enjoyed it. The best part was the science building where you got a first hand experience of how the volcanoes shaped Hawaii, unfortunately I wont be around when the next island emerges. A thoroughly good day out for every one. And the bus back seemed quicker!!

“HAWAII'S HISTORY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Don't miss the Bishop Museum if you ever go to Honolulu. If you are interested in learning more about the islands, that's the place to go. You will find a lot about how they lived before the missionaries arrived, also about the kings and queens that ruled the country before it became a US state... Nice, interesting, well-organised, with a cafeteria and a good shop filled with books about Hawaiian history and tasteful souvenirs. Carmen Huguet, Girona, Spain.

There is a lot of history to see in this museum. We as a family learned a great deal. If you have an extra couple of hours stop by and visit.

“Worth the visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

I was skeptical; but soon devoured the knowledge. The Hawaiian Hall is a remarkable building - amazingly maintained. Inside, the history of the islands, learning more about Polynesia, and Hawaiian royalty is extremely interesting and educational. Definitely a good perspective. The volcano show was performed very well - and my kids got samples of the lava - a nice momento as well as lava-burned post cards. Go see it.

“Visit early in your stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

We visited twice. Very informative. Lots of information about the history of Hawaii. Visit the planitarium, learn how to be guided by the stars. Learn local dances. The large hall takes hours to do it justice. Nice museum store with some unique items. Entry fee.
