There is nothing to dislike about the Palace. The only issue is the traffic in the area, avoid rush hours. The bus system in Hawai'i is excellent and I recommend it for visiting this, and any other downtown venues.
The Palace is always in the process of restoration as all of the furnishings were sold at auction after the monarchy was overthrown. It is amazing that they have had so many of the furnishings returned and the Palace is restored beautifully. There are guided tours of the Palace or visitors can just enjoy the grounds. Beautiful banyan trees..
