“Great medium-sized zoo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

My 5 year old daughter and I spent half a day at this zoo in July. It is not so big that it will consume an entire day, but it is large enough to provide good value for the price of admission. If you love birds, there are many to see here, including rare birds of paradise and the even rarer Hawaiian nene. The animals were pretty active when we were there- even my daughter with her short attention span wanted to stop and watch some of them playing. She really liked the children's zoo area. Please note that if you are going to do the children's zoo you should visit as early as possible, before school groups and day care groups descend upon it. There are also some very nice garden areas to walk through, but younger children (such as mine) may find this boring. There is limited food available for purchase- typical hamburgers and such with a few local teriyaki dishes- but the zoo's free-roaming peacocks like to hang out near the tables, which can make for a charming dining experience for the little ones. This zoo is definitely worth a visit of a few hours.

“Great zoo inside the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

This is a great little zoo. It took about 2 hours to go through. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Plus lots of birds and reptiles and elephants. Ten minutes to walk there from the Waikiki hotel strip. Bring a bottle of water and enjoy the animals!

“Absolutly Wonderful Zoo--And I Walked From My Hotel In 5 Minutes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

I read about the zoo before going to Hawaii and made sure I scheduled plenty of time to really enjoy this attraction. I could not get over all the birds on display and so many that made their home in and around the area.
I loved the giant Galapagos tortoises, the reptile house and the cheetah. This zoo had so many beautiful plants and flowers, was right near Waikiki Beach and so close to my hotel, the OHANA Waikiki East that I walked from to the zoo in five minutes.
The Honolulu Zoo is a "must see" when visiting Oahu. I was so impressed with my morning spent enjoying the park-like wonder. I will visit again next chance I get.

“Nice Zoo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Went with my 16 & 13 year old on one of the slightly rainy days. The zoo is big and nice to see all the different animal/reptile species. Giraffes, Zebras, Alligator, variety of turtles and other reptiles. The kids had a great time.
