“Feel the rush of catching a wave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012 via mobile

This was our second time using GWS and had another great time. Ross and Ian showed us the tricks we needed to get up and away. They treated my girlfriend and myself with great respect and we felt very safe and confidant. We are a little older than the others out there but GWS made us look like we belonged. I'm ready to try it solo. I highly recommend this organization

“Best part of our trip! Girls Who Surf Rock!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I and our 2 daughters (6 & 8) stayed at the Disney Resort, Aulani. They book through another surf school but that school was booked up on the days that we had available. We heard about Girls Who Surf from another guest. Best day ever! 2 instructors for the 4 of us. My 6 year old started to freak out a bit before getting in the water but her instructor (Modi?) was great and took her tandem on a board. Minutes later she standing up in front of Modi and grinning from ear to ear riding her first wave. Btw don't get hung up on the name like it's only girl instructors. We had a guy, David, plus a girl Modi, and they were great instructors, fun, easy going and patient and totally focused on us having a great experience surfing. Plus they even played hide and seek with our kids while we were packing up. They picked us up and took us back to the resort. I highly reccomend them!

“Best Surf Lessons Ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

We just wanted to say MAHALO for the best surf lessons ever! Our daughter surfed 10 days in private lessons with Girls Who Surf and enjoyed every minute of it! Her progress was well tracked in the notes compiled after each lesson by her instructor for the next day. We were able to request Gabe for the majority of the lessons but also enjoyed lessons with Kylie the first two days. My wife joined them fo the last lesson and loved every minute. It was great to see her surf with a big smile and pose for pictures with a chaka!

Gabe was a great experienced instructor and gave a lot of valuable lessons and tips on surfing well and being safe at all times. Pre- and post water discussion was effective in reviewing each lesson. He made each day exciting and fun and progress was evident by the end of the lessons.

The photo sessions by Fire Shots Surf Photography will be enjoyed for years to come.

We have already recommended Girls Who Surf to our friends and co-workers. They were in contact with us by phone before our vacation started and confirmed each lesson the day before (travel arrangements also when necessary). We will most certainly book more lessons for 2013. Can’t wait for another lesson!

“More organization skills needed for these surfers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

First off - had a great time in learning to surf. The instructors were very personable, friendly, and concerned about our surfing experience. They got us out into the water right away - not much on beach instruction which I think worked better than what we saw other surfing groups doing. They had almost 1 to 1 ratios for our group lessons and rotated instructors to get different perspectives. We signed up for the two hour group lessons and I was really exhausted after an hour, but it was nice to have the last hour to finally ride a few waves.

Room for improvement - the lesson was at 8:00 and the company was no where to be found. There were others waiting for the lesson too, but it took a call over to the office to find out that they were on their way - stuck in traffic. In comparing to the other surfing company who was also on part of the beach, it seemed they should have been there much earlier to set-up. The other group had a tent about 20 chairs, water bottles, gear, etc. all laid out and ready to go. The GWS group showed up and set up kind of after the fact. However, despite being late, we were in the water quicker than the other company even though the lessons started at the same time. They did still give us the two hour lesson, which was good, but then other lessons started showing up and I think this reduced the amount of time they had for everyone.

Would definitely recommend this surfing school.
