My niece and I just got back from a week long stay at the Outrigger Waikiki. What a great hotel! We were greeted with a very friendly staff from the moment we stepped out of the cab. The check in was easy and we were upgraded. We enjoyed the Hula Grill and Duke's. I was very impressed with them since my niece suffers from a severe allergy to shellfish. The staff made a point to go over the menu with us and recommend what she would be able to eat. They really made the extra effort for her safety. Yes, you can hear the people in the rooms next to you but thankfully ours weren't too loud. Other than at night we were rarely in the room anyway so it didn't matter. I would choose this hotel again.

The American travel company that booked our hotels would not allow us to stay at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach, where we normally stay, due to the redevelopment there.

Had a great stay in a partial Ocean View Room at the Outrigger Waikiki at the Beach. Room was large and clean and decor OK, but maybe could do with a make over. The only problem was that the room was noisy - you can hear the plumbing in all the surrounding rooms. Balcony small very tight for the two chairs and small table

We had little problems with lifts that others reported. Walked down the stairs when very busy, not the greatest stairwell, but it comes out in pool area.

Great service, food and views in the bars and restaurants. Book for Dukes and the Hula Grill in the evenings to get a good table and cut down the wait, they are popular.

Chucks Restaurant is currently closed and there is a little building noise, but not too intrusive. They will be carrying out a refurbishment to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel next-door from June onwards

No sunshades in the Pool area if you want to escape the sun for a while, but you can hire sunshades and chairs on the beach immediately in front of the hotel and access the sea and the pool.

Overall a great spot, would of given 5 stars but for the noisy plumbing

FABULOUS! Have stayed there 3 times in the past and always consistent. Friendly, personable staff, nice, updated, clean rooms, amazing views. The restaurants are excellent and reasonably priced. Great breakfast buffet at Duke's and Aloha Hour at Hula Grill has low-priced drinks and pupu's from 4-6. Bartenders and wait staff friendly and the atmosphere is nice.

I would highly recommend this to your first or one of many trips to the island.

We loved our stay at the Outrigger Waikiki!

Our first night was in an "ocean view". We love to sit on our balcony and watch the ocean and this would have been "ok" but the Cheesecake factory AC units and huge fan were too much noise. We were on the 16th floor. The balcony was small.

The next day we moved to "Ocean Front" 11th floor, center. Loved the huge balcony, the view of the ocean was amazing. We sat out on the balcony a LOT!

Good:

Ocean View, restaurants, beach, center of everything

Negatives:

Yes, you can hear right thru those walls! Our neighbors got up at 5 AM (a couple who's accent was East coast I could hear them that clearly) and planned their day. They talked back and forth while she was in the bathroom, etc; Annoying? Yeah.

There was a band that played Thurs, Fri, Sat, from 4:30-6:30 PM. This was extremely LOUD. Like we couldn't talk on our balcony Loud. I didn't understand why they had to have the music so LOUD... I called the front desk about another thing, and the worker told me the music I was hearing was from down the street. I laughed out loud and told him, 'no, it's the band on the patio'. He was shocked it was so loud, and we could hardly talk.

The hotel room wasn't bad. The bathroom was a bit dated and needed upgrading but it was fine.

I could get the pool wi-fi from the balcony but you had to call the front desk daily to get a password. What a hassle. The room did have internet.

Overall, we enjoyed out time here, but just be aware of the activity and noise at this hotel.

  • Liked — The location on the beach
  • Disliked — Thin walls, you can hear your neighbors too well.

We spent 5 nights at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach after a few days in Vegas for your honeymoon, and I have to say it was absolutely fantastic. The location of the hotel is spot on, right in the centre of Waikiki's shops on one side, the ocean on the other. The service in the hotel was excellent, we were upgraded to a partial ocean view free of charge and given a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival which I thought was a nice touch. The Hula Grill and Duke's were both fantastic, great service and lovely views. Especially enjoyed the authentic Hawaiian serenade at our table on our last night!
This was our first time in Hawaii, and despite the long travelling time and consequent jet lag, I would definitely visit again, and stay again at Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach.
