“30 year wedding anniversary trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

I was very pleased with every thing about this hotel. I got an ocean front view room, Perfect location, Great service, helpful staff, good shops. the only thing I found a little bit uncomfortable was paying for hotel valet parking but is the only parking available, after a while I felt like a rich man I would stay again every time.

Room Tip: get a ocean front view room, is a bit more money but well worth it!

This is our 2nd time to Outrigger Waikiki - love it! You are right amongst everything (yes, it is a really busy spot) but everything is on your doorstep - shops, restaurants, markets and the beach. We booked an ocean view room with 2 double beds (for us and 2 teenage girls) which was lovely, clean and spacious. The only downside was when you opened the sliding doors, it was so noisy outside that we didn't open them for long (all the noise seemed to be coming from the big extractor fans at the Cheesecake Factory). All staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived at the hotel at 6am and had put in a request for early check-in; it seemed very doubtful at the beginning but the lovely lady on check-in (think her name was Mae) managed to get us in early which was great as we could go back to bed - we were all really tired from our 1-50am flight from Las Vegas!
We did not dine in the hotel as it seemed really busy but there are so many other places to eat so it didn't matter.
Overall, a great experience and will definitely be coming back to this favourite hotel.

Aloha SunloversSouthland. Thank you for choosing the Outrigger Waikiki for a second time. We are happy to have accommodated your family for an early check-in, as we realize that flight times vary each day and guests are tired following a long journey to our island. Your compliments about Mae, our friendly Guest Services Representative, are appreciated. She will be truly honored to see her name mentioned on TripAdvisor. Mahalo Nui Loa.

Great hotel with wonderful restaurants. If you're looking for things to do or places to see, stop at the Activities Desk and they can assist you. Thank you Jackie for helping us get to see and do everything we wanted to during our stay!

This is a great hotel if you want to be right in the middle of the action. It is recently updated, very clean and has great amenities for being right on Waikiki and in the middle of the action. The only negative is that we were told we had a Queen size bed when it was actually a full size bed. Not so comfortable when sleeping for two people.

Aloha elseeyel3. Thank you for being a loyal return guest of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. We are very proud of our newly completed renovations. Many updates were completed throughout the property which resulted in significant improvements to our guest rooms, pooldeck areas, swimming pool and elevators. Great hotel, great location and facilities, right on the beach, Duke's Restaurant is downstairs and has awesome food. Only downside is the rooms on the right hand side of the building, when facing the building from the street front are too noisy as the building next door is 4 storey's high and has a massive air conditioning unit on the top of the building which is extremely LOUD, we were on the 9th floor, impossible to leave the balcony door open, especially at night, to make a phone call you would have to close the balcony door.

Aloha Alan N. Thank you for choosing the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. Your compliments about our location, facilities and restaurant are appreciated. While the white noise from the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center is unfortunately out of our control, our staff is able to assist guests in moving to a room on the opposite side of the building if they prefer. Mahalo Nui Loa.

I stayed 3 nights here with my wife in mid-april. This was on the 2nd leg of my trip, I previously stayed at the Hilton Hawaiin Village (read my review on that). I stayed in a Deluxe Ocean Front Suite (with the hot tub), 14th floor, ocean front and views of diamond head. Firstly, I want to congratulate them for meeting my "high-floor" request which I made previously over the phone with a lovely customer service rep. As i mentioned i previously stayed at the Hilton Hawaiin Village Alii Tower, ocean front, and while the room was great - the view sucked because i was one the 4th floor, i also called many times prior to secure a high floor, but that was the best they could do. So i was blown away when the check-in confirmed that i was on the 14th floor here at the Outirgger, this is right below the penthouse and one more floor. Small room (especially with the hot tub in the middle), but it is nice, well equipped, comfortable and phenomenal views. I paid $370 /nt using my AAA discount (highly recommend, pays for itself in 1 night) that IS the best rate you are gonna find folks, it is the same as the discount price locals get. Just doesn't get any better than that. Best part no resort fees, free WIFI, and great economical dinning options on-site. The music from Duke's was sufficiently loud even from the 14th floor, but the little time we spent in the room it did not bother me, i rather enjoyed it. Plus it was over with by no later than 8-9pm most nights. Nothing better then hanging out in the lanai drinking a cranberry disaronno and taking in all of the breathtaking paranomic views of the ocean, with a bit of theme music in the background.. just freaking great..worth every cent right there.

The hotel is very clean, well appointed, friendly staff, easy to navigate (except for the elevators at first), and great perks.

I did not eat at Chucks steak house or the HULU grill which are on-site, but i did look at the menus and the prices and what was offered was more than reasonable (compared to waikiki standards). I only had breakfast at Dukes for 16.95 you can get into the all you can eat buffet w/oj, coffee, etc. that is also all they offer is just a buffet, no ala carte. but for 16 bucks what you get is great, ommelet bar, eggs (3 ways, scrambled, eggs benny, and ommelet), sausage, bacon, fruit bar, yogurt, granolas, cereal, portugese sausage, and a few other items.. but again for 16 bucks, at the hotel in waikiki.. that is uncanny! The thieves at Hilton Hawaiin were trying to charge $30/person for a plain continental buffet.. no way jose.. I did not eat dinner or lunch at the hotel because all the places would get intensely packed, especially dukes..what a happening place, its crazy in there.. but does not affect the hotel ambiance a bit. Breakfast was never packed and always seated asap. dinner and lunch were hard or 1-2hr waits.. suggest making reservations a few days early.. but i did not care as there are a gizzalion other dining options in a 4 block radius. get out and explore.. the international market place has a few hidden gems.

There is a nice sized ABC store right across the street and a very similiarly priced store inside the hotel for al lof your other needs, including booze. The drinks at dukes bar, are ok.. had a few lava flows, nothing too special, expensive of course. I bought my own bottles at ABC and sipped that way. buy you an undercover cup as well.. don't want to be seen walking around with a cocktail in your hand everywhere.

The hotel is right on the beach which is great, but oh man does it get crowded.. from 12pm-6pm it starts to get crowded both in the sands and water. I liked the water area infront of the royal hawaiin (next door hotel) since it was very shallow and easy to navigate further into the water for great waves on my body board. I also ended up walking eastwards on the beach towards diamond head to find a less crowded but rockier bottomed beach. I rather liked the Hilton Hawaiin beach better as far as size, space, water, sand and availability. Also better sunsets down thay way since the position of the sun keeps moving northward around this time of year.

Overall great value, fantastic location right smack in the middle of it all. International marketplace across the street, places to eat galore everywhere.. on the beach.. easy transit via bus, trolley, taxi, etc. to anywhere. Great hotel, great price, fantastic location.

Room Tip: "The breakfast buffet at duke's is a great value, best time to go 6-9am" "Call a...

We have spent a wonderful 8 days at this hotel. The setting is perfect for first time visitors to Waikiki like us. It is located in the best position on the beach front and in the centre of Waikiki. The rooms (ocean view) are of an excellent standard. We have found all the staff to be friendly and helpful at all times. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Ocean view is a must.
