This hotel is right on the beach at Waikiki but also fronts onto the main shopping area & International market.Everything for the whole family.restaurants are good & reasonably priced. Our room was quiet but I don't know about other areas of the hotel.
Staff are mainly pleasant & helpful.
My only gripe is the that our room was cleaned very late in the day & not all that well, also coffee & tea supplies were not replenished etc
.Compared to other hotels in the same area The outrigger was good value.

Room Tip: Ask for Ocean View

Aloha Maureen B. We are very proud to be located in the heart of Waikiki with the very best section of Waikiki Beach at our doorstep. Thank you for your comments about your experience with the Housekeeping service. Our maids provide regular room cleaning between the hours of 8am-4pm each day, however, guests can also schedule a specific cleaning time by letting our staff know. Mahalo Nui Loa. We hope to see you and your family again.

We have stayed here many times and love the convenient location. Our first garden view room assignment was on the 12th floor. The view was as expected but, despite the height, the noise from the adjacent roof top air conditioning fans at the Royal Hawaiian were annoying even with the sliding door closed and precluded sleeping with the door open. They reassigned us a first floor room on the other side of the hotel which was surprisingly very quiet and even allowed hearing the waves crash at night.

A few years ago they shrunk the pool and did away with the bar that gave an underwater view of the pool. The result was more deck space. They also added more deck chairs to what serves as an outdoor dining area. The result is when you come to the pool, you can get a chair to sun in. This is far different than our experience staying at the other hotels that are on the beach. At several of them, people race to put down towels to "reserve" a chair. The result is no chairs left by 9AM. We have found hotel policies to limit "reserving" are ineffective. We were happy that this was never a problem at this Outrigger.

Guests love this location so close to numerous restaurants, shopping options and the beach itself. Perfect place to watch surfers, swimmers and people watch in general.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor room away from the main street and the Royal Hawaiian.

Aloha davisbikie. Mahalo Nui Loa for being a loyal return guest of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. We are delighted that you noticed the recent renovations to our swimming pool and pooldeck. Listening to the feedback of our valued guests, we expanded the pooldeck area to allow for many more lounge chairs to be placed. We modified the entire depth of the swimming pool to 4-feet in order to maximize usage for both swimmers and waders. In addition, our improved pool chair policy gives all guests the equal opportunity to use our available sun loungers each day. Thank you for your positive comments. We hope to see you again soon.

We loved this place! We came here on a girl's trip last year and absolutley loved it. The service was great and the staff were very friendly. I think our absolute favourite thing about this hotel was the buffet breakfast. The POG juice was a hangover's cure and the food was always fresh and incredibly yummy. With the international markets across the road and an amazing beach right in front of the hotel location made sure there was always great things to do. Although this hotel isn't the fanciest of the beachfront's avaialble, it was definately enjoyable. Will definatley be back to Outrigger on the beach. Was such a great experience.

Aloha KaitL87. Thank you for staying at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach during your girl's trip to Hawaii. It sounds like you had a very fun-filled and memorable visit. Please come back soon for another refreshing glass of POG (Passion Orange Guava juice) and another exciting holiday in paradise. Mahalo Nui Loa.

Honestly..... I've been to the Oahu many times and have stayed at a variety of Hotels on Waikiki, you can't beat the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach! The hotel covers all a travelers basic needs and more: FOOD, COMFORT, BEACHFRONT,AMENITIES, GREAT LOCATION and GREAT STAFF. It's not the height of luxury, but who needs a luxurious in Waikiki? All I need is a nice room to sleep with a comfortable bed and some convienent room amenities. The rest of the time, I'm out doing something! Don't get me wrong! This place has wonderful casual CLASS and posh to it. You want snooty and pretentious? Go to the Halekulani, period.

Rooms and Service. This hotel is no spring chicken, but it's well dressed and comfortable. Rooms are clean. Beds comfortable. Decor - Newly renovated and Hawaiian themed, classy. Staff was competent and cheerful.

Hotel and amenities. Everything ya need is there: Sundry/Food Shop, Travel desk and variety of shops. Check out the Koa Wood gallery! The pool is nice but a little small. WHo cares, the beach is 20 yards away. Greatr sunning deck with cokctail service. Hot tub nice a roomy. The Beach is just steps away! Actually, everthing is just steps away!

Food. Three restaurants and a Beach Deli. Hula Grill, Duke's Canoe Club and Chuck's Steakhouse. See individual restaurants for our review. I will say, Make reservation for Duke's when you arrive at hotel! Hula Grill Happy Hour is Fantastic, go early!

Location: Smack dab inn the middle of everything and right across the street from the International Marketplace. Next door, on both sides are Waikiki Classics - Royal Hawaiian and Moana Surf. We never felt the need to even look at them!

RATING: You could pay more and get a lot less. Don't waste your vacation money..... Outrigger Waikiki at the Beach is all you'll ever need!

Room Tip: The ocean is right outside the door..... Don't worry about room view.

We stayed here for 3 nights before flying out to Maui. This was a nice place. We had a partial ocean view room but the balcony looked across to all the balconies at the condos next door, so I didn't care for that much. The beach had great swimming and definitely hopping with surfers and beach lovers. The pool was small and a bit of a disappointment, but the great beach made up for it. This hotel is home to Duke's bar/restaurant which was crowded every night. We just had a drink there since you can't make reservations for the bar area dining, but I would like to have tried it. Overall, nice hotel.

Room Tip: don't get a partial ocean view room facing the condos next door.

Aloha chattie1608. Thank you for staying at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. We have 146 Partial Oceanview rooms located throughout both the Diamond Head and Ewa sides of our hotel. All of those rooms give guests a view of both the ocean and the Waikiki city scene from spacious lanais. Rooms on the Ewa side are normally preferred by guests who want a broader view overlooking the traffic and bustling activity of Kalakaua Avenue. Guests who prefer a more serene setting choose the Diamond Head side facing Kalakaua Avenue and the historic Moana Surfrider hotel. We encourage guests to take a look at available rooms on both sides of the building if they are not completely satisfied with the view from the room they are assigned at check-in. Mahalo Nui Loa for your comments.

Did not appreciate attitude at check in, location is excellent but the whole attitude to customers needs a work over.Rooms are nice , on the second floor, get a higher floor if given the opportunity to discuss options at check in. Has a laundry on site which was good.Ate at Dukes and Hula Grill, don't see what the fuss is about, average food average service.

Just finished our second stay at this hotel. Loved it the first time with our only issue being the loud beach band from Duke's that goes on till midnight some nights. But we had a fifth floor ocean view room so the noise wasn't too bad. Planning our second trip four months in advance we specifically asked the hotel for an upper floor room (16 stories in hotel) to get away from the noise and were assured our request was noted in our reservation. On arrival they had no record of this request and the only room was on the third floor, just above the bandstand. So, we actually ended up worse on our second trip - so much for rewarding return customers. Adding insult to injury, we realized that the lower ocean front rooms may front the ocean but thanks to palm trees everwhere your view has very little ocean in it. Also, since our first trip the elevators have been reconfigured and seem to take much longer to respond. The only good thing was that food in the Hula Grill was improved.

Bottom line, if noise from a very popular beach bar that can go on till midnite doesn't bother you this is your place. If it does, look elsewhere. There are lots of hotels on Waikiki and we'll be in a different one next time we visit.

Room Tip: Avoid ocean front rooms or insist on floor 10 or higher.

Aloha Charles B. Thank you for staying at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach for a second time. We are sorry to hear that there were disappointments during your last visit. Our elevator upgrades will be completed in early May this year and we truly appreciate your patience during the initial delays related to the installation of a brand new system. Please be assured that we value our loyal return guests very much. If you decide to stay with us again, please do not hesitate to call a manager-on-duty in advance and we will try our best to ensure that your reservation requests are met. Mahalo Nui Loa.
