“Great self catering base in Waikiki”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

This is a very well situated luxury apartment hotel right on the beach at Waikiki. Part of the Hilton Village, so shares pools and beach access.
Only downside is that every item of beach rental except towels incurs additional payments.
Service is excellent and the opportunitry to self cater is very useful.

We had a great time and a perfect visit. Last year we did the time share presentation in Orlando and purchased this trip at a discount. Well worth it! Not sure how it happened, but we were upgraded to a Pent House! (24 floor) ( I called about 3 weeks ahead of time and requested a ocean view room, per another person's reccomendation on tripadvisor... thanks to that person for the great idea). We were in the Lagoon Tower ( I don't think I was ever able to keep straight what each tower was and what it had until about the last day, the Lagoon tower and the Grand Waikikian are the vacation club towers). We didn't do the time share presentation until are 2nd to last day. The sales man was crazy, literally, I thought he had a mental illness. He spent more time telling us about his fancy sports car and how he missed his family in NY than anything. I don't even know the details of what he was offering. But that was fine, since we were not that interested in purchasing at this time. But we met another couple that purchases a once every other year package (so if you are interested ask about this.. our guy never mentioned it). Anyways back to the actual resort SO GREAT!! Our room was amazing. It was Lagoon Tower, room 2468. This was not close to the elevator (popular complaint after reading other reviews). We had a two story condo/suite. Upstairs had a Master Bedroom with a view of the Ocean/ Marina. Great closet and full bathrom. The 2nd bedroom had 2 twin beds, huge flat screen and another full bathroom, more than my 2 kids ever needed (they are a little spoiled now by the Pent House). The free nightly DVD rentals were awesome. We were able to rent one out of each machine each day. This was great for my kids. They rented games for the game station. Plus they watched movies ( which seems like a crazy thing to do on vacation, but a great way to entertain the kids while making dinner or getting ready for the day). We had a full living room. Another 1/2 bath on the main level. Great dining room table for 4 people. Full kitchen. The maid service provided dish washer soap ( we had to sneak out a 2nd packet from one of the maid carts for another day). There are free washer and dryers on each level, again each room had a packet of laundry soap. We were able to do laundry late at night and early in the morning with no difficulty. The kitchen was stocked with plates, silver ware, cups, coffee machine ( 2 packes of regular and decaf also included), toaster, rice maker and blender. Microwave, full stove and refrid.. I would highly rec'd going to Costco and picking up a few items to be able to eat in the condo if only for conveince, but mainly to save money ( we spent $80 one night on 2 pasta dishes and a small pizza, we went to costco and spent $25 on a whole baked chicken, vegtable tray, sweet rolls and raspberries). So the room was great! Maid service only comes on your third day. Excellent cleaning. The sundry store in the Lagoon tower had good prices comparatively, to the ABC store. The only place we could find cheap grapes and mac and cheese. The RESOT was excellent. The pools are great. My kids got to pet the penguins. The flamingoes are no longer there ( they are back at the zoo). We did the 9am hula lessons ( you need to sign up on your first day, because the classes are free, but fill up quickly). We did NOT do the Hilton Luau, we went to the Polynesian Cultural center and it was well worth the drive. Same price as the Hilton, but we go SO much more. One thing I was trying to find in the reviews was info about the Pools. Kids need to be 36 inches to be able to go down the water slide ( my kids are 38 and 41 but they needed to have a life jacket or water wings). Only one person can go down at a time. There are three slides, One is a short 5 foot slide, any age could do it. The Medium one was fast, my son was afraid at first, but then was going down like a pro. The "big" slide is mostly a tunnel and my husband said it was much faster than he imagined. My kids only did this one a few times. Other reveiws indicated how croweded every pool was, but it wasn't really a problem. I think we got at least 2 chairs everytime we went to the pool ( and I kids never got out of the pool to sit). I know my review is long, but hopefully helpful. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions. Iwould be happy to help you, especially if you are going with young kids.

Room Tip: Lagoon Tower room 2468 had a Marina view and Ocean view, also view of other buildings. We had a grea...

My experience with this hotel resort was again very pleasant and wonderful. I will recommend very highly to anyone to stay in this hotel or any Hilton hotels. For the people who complained about this hotel resort and the personnel, they need to go and stay at Sheraton especially the one in Nassau, Bahamas, to see how rude and unprofessional personnel can be. Thank you Hilton, you're the best!

Disclaimer: we are Hilton Grand Vacations owners.

Stayed in May 2012 and then in June 2013: customer service was much better last year than than last week. We had to call guest services OVER and OVER to request towels and TP. The number would ring and ring and the an automated service would pick up and some times place the call on a long hold or just hang up on us. Persistence eventually paid off but we had to be very persistent. We requested ice the night we checked in and waited 1.5 hours and called twice before it was delivered. The dishes and glass sets are incomplete. I suspect that when someone breaks one it is not replaced. One small frying pan nod one small and one medium pot made up the cookware. Really kind of pathetic considering the cost of the time share.

Love the location. Love the grounds. Love the bed sheets. This was our fifth year in a row staying at Hilton properties in Hawaii. We will be back but compared to Kingsland on the big island or even our stay last year, the property has declined. As my daughter said that the customer service should have been outstanding for a hotel guest let alone a time share owner, but unfortunately it was not the case. We tried calling the concierge on Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:30 and no one ever answered. At check out we were not asked how our stay was....We will be back and hope that the customer service improves to what we expect from a Hilton property.

We spent 8 nights at the Grand Waikikian Suites. Our party of 6 had a 2 Bedroom Oceanfront and a 1 BR City view on the 17th floor. (We had a lot of HGVC bonus points to use before they expired...) Both rooms were very clean and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, etc. As an owner, the HGVC only provides mid-week cleaning. However, anytime I called for towels or supplies they were delivered within 10 minutes. The staff members around the resort were all very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the lagoon and the pool (both had sun and shade). The beach area was a bit crowded and the chair rental was expensive. However, our kids had a blast with the paddle boards in the lagoon.

We ate at Tropics our first night at the resort and it was OK. We really enjoyed the Round Table pizza, Pronto Pickle and Starbucks. My kids also thought the ice cream shop was fantastic too. We prepared all of our breakfasts in the room and ate lunch by the pool a few days. We walked out into town for most of our dinners.

Our car service from the airport stopped at Foodland for groceries and then we made a mid-week grocery stop at Safeway. However, we also purchased some groceries in the hotel store and the ABC store. We did not find the prices too outrageous. (Hawaii is still less expensive than the Bahamas.)

Cab fare around town was relatively reasonable. We only rented a car for one day to make a trip to the North Shore.

Here are a list of activities that we did: Nau Wale No Island Tour (Lighthouse hike, Blow Hole, North Shore, Turtles, Pali look out, etc.) Waimea Falls, Paradise Cove Luau, Island Magic Catamaran Snorkel, Dole Plantation & Hole-In-the-Wall Food Tour. I have separate reviews for many of these activities.

These are the off-property restaurants we went to: Duke's, Morimoto, Chart House, Cafe Sistina, Ted's Bakery, Giovanni's Shrimp Truck and Hard Rock Cafe.

I would definitely recommend the Grand Waikikian Suites for a trip to Oahu. The resort/village has many great shops too.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better view

It's all good...excellent, even. Our stay began with an energetic welcome from Will-the-valet, with tips for self parking and getting around town. Your garage keycard will be good all day on your last day, even after you've checked-out. Camille from the Holokai Concierge was patient and made wonderful recommendations: swim at Laniakea Beach as turtles rest on beach. The housekeeping staff were pleasant and quick to respond. The Owners Lounge was probably the best perk, for those whose departure isn't till the evening: we took a shower. Your GPS address will be 18 Kahanamoku Street, since the lobby entrance isn't on 1811 Ala Moana. There's an Xbox in the room, so let your kids choose a couple of free games to keep 'em happy: my reality these days. Bring your own boogie boards, most airlines accept as regular checked luggage if in a bag: calm ocean waters come to life. The rooms have wired and wireless connections, so we Yelp'd and FB'd to our hearts content. Skip the Starlight Luau: saw the show from our balcony and it didn't look inviting held on the roof of their convention center. I hope your stay will be as fun as ours!

This is a very high end resort which is conveniently located in the heart of Waikiki so it is walking distance to many shops and restaurants on Kalakaua Avenue. The resort has many shops and restaurants on the property which is located right on the beach. The valet parking service was slow at times.
