“Aloha here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2010

Back again to the Aloha state and we were welcomed by our friends at the Beachcomber. It is so refreshing to arrive and we hate to leave. Mahalo to our wonderful friends Jenny, Kristina and others as well as our new friends like Loan and Mark at the hotel.
We were treated like Ohana. The renovations appear to be completed and the hotel is looking great.
We had a great view of Diamond Head and the Waikiki Beach. The International Market Place is adjacent to the hotel and the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Centre is across the street.
Waikiki is a tourist mecca and the shops are open late, usually 11 PM. There are many buskers on the sidewalks which can be a little loud if you are an early to bed person. They do shut down when the shops close and it is quiet after that. Almost all hotels on Kalakaua Ave experiences the same problem. The beds are very comfortable here.
We are already considering our next visit to Hawaii and staying at our favourite hotel there.
There are several free entertainments going on around so check them out. Most of all, enjoy the spirit of Aloha.

The Holiday Inn changed operators and locations in Honolulu. This new location is simply wonderful. This hotel offers an excellent price and excellent location amid the big dollar hotels and high priced establishments.

I found this hotel to be A ONE in my book. I have trips scheduled back here in both January and February and I will stay here. This hotel is in the hub hub of downtown Honolulu, yet a fraction of the prices. This hotel is every bit as nice as one of the more pricer hotels in the area.

Make this an option for your visit to Honolulu.

Foyer and hallways a bit dated, but the room we had was refurbished, large and comfortable. Bathroom is quite big which is good for a family. Jimmy Buffets restuarant is fun, and the Cheesecake Factory across the road is excellent too - just need to book - always a line waiting.
Location, location, location. Next to night international markets. 3 or 4 block walk to MacDonalds for a cheap brekkie. Laneway to the beach across the road next to Cheescake Factory. Value for money, suited us as we were only in the hotel at the end of great days out. We had a front view of the ocean on level 12, and traffic noise did keep me awake one evening until late.

We were at the Beachcomber with a large group. They were pleasant and helpful and made our job easy. The location is perfect - right in the middle of Waikiki. When things did go awry - such as a problem with the escalators - they were there to fix it right away.

When I booked I wasn't aware that it was located so perfectly. Best spot, close to beach, shopping, dining and anything you'd want to do in Waikiki. The room was spacious and spotless, however if you have a room out on the street or on the international market you hear the trucks beeping in the middle of the night, so you better be on the upper floors. Otherwise one of the best places that we stayed in on our Hawaii round trip.

Stayed here from 27th October – 6th November over Halloween which I discovered is a very busy time in Waikiki. Fun atmosphere with great people/costume watching. The main drag was absolutely packed with people.

I chose this hotel mainly due to the convenient location, excellent value for money room price, recent renovations, and recommendations of others on the forum.
I have previously stayed at the Waikiki Marriott Resort & Spa which was lovely but a bit of a walk from central Waikiki and the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani which is the next hotel over and was okay but tired and had mould issues in the bathroom.
As I was travelling with someone who couldn’t walk far so need to be close to everything, this hotel was perfect and I highly recommend it. I would definitely stay here again.

Arrived early and was given access to a room to freshen up straight away.
I requested an accessible room and was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a partial ocean view room on the 7th floor on the city side. Found this to be noisy early in the morning due to delivery trucks in the alley next to the hotel as others have mentioned. I called Taryn at the front desk and she was very helpful arranging for me to change rooms when another, quieter room became available a few days later – she even sent up a box of chocolates for the inconvenience of having to wait!
Well it was certainly worth the wait – we ended up on the 26th floor with views of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach at no extra cost so very, very happy and it had a massive bathroom too.
There were three adults and a toddler sharing the room and there was plenty of room but would have loved if they had two king beds instead of two doubles :)

All the staff I encountered were courteous and friendly.

Used the hotel room key to get on the Pink Trolley several times which helped the budget and loved that the drivers dressed up for Halloween too. One of the driver’s even took the opportunity to belt out a couple of songs on the way to Ala Moana which was great – he had a good voice! Just made it a really fun experience.

I didn’t use the pool just the towels for the beach but checked it out and it seemed a reasonable size (why swim in a pool when you can swim in the fabulous ocean at Waikiki Beach?).

Bit disappointed that they don't offer room service but this was not a major inconvenience

Overall, a great experience.
Just an FYI, the hotel is being re-branded as a Holiday Inn – saw the new signage going up and then covered over.
