“Beachcomber at the Beachcomber”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

The Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort Hotel is a pleasant hotel located on the extremely busy Kalakaua Avenue which is the major street running parallel to Waikiki Beach.

The workers at the Holiday Inn from the valet parkers, to the front desk, to the housekeepers are friendly, polite, efficient, and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home.

My room had a partial ocean view and mountain view, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. All the rooms have balconies. My room was directly across from the revolving restaurant in the next building, where during the morning hours a worker there was waving at me and wouldn't stop which was a bit creepy.

The hotel offers a small rooftop sunning area with pool and jacuzzi.

The Holiday Inn has a theater in the lobby, so be prepared for a torrent of tourists coming and going to see the show. When you are in front of the building you can barely walk due to all the street performers, tourists, and there is a huge outdoor market right behind the hotel.

If you want to be right in the center of the hussle and bussle of Waikiki Beach, you can't go wrong staying at the Holiday Inn Beachcomber.

Aloha Beachcomber034 and thank you for your review! When I hear customers describe our team as friendly, polite, efficient, go out of their way to make you feel welcome, it's very gratifying! You made my day! Our ohana works hard to take care of our many guests from all over the world, and your kind words are very much appreciated. Great price and even better location. Everything is in walking distance. It was clean, and well maintained. The only issue I had was we booked thru a travel agent so I did not get my Priority Club Reward Points. I did not know this before hand so I was not pleased!

Room Tip: The higher you are the better the view!

As part of our land cruise package, we "upgraded" to this hotel upon the recommendation of our travel agent. I thought she might be just trying to up-sell, but for the minor difference in price, we decided to try it out. Wow! I was glad that we did. The rooms were small, but clean. The location was unbeatable if you want to stay one block from the beach, and within steps from some of the biggest shopping options in Waikiki. There are lots of places to eat around the hotel, ranging from very cheap to very pricey. The Macy's right next door is a nice plus, as well!
We all had issues with the WiFi, and could not get it to work on ANY device, despite the code the hotel provides. Other than that, it was a great stay. If I wanted the hustle and bustle of Waikiki again, I'd stay there in a heartbeat. Personally though, I prefer the quiet side of the island and the other islands around Hawaii more.

Aloha jennieltx and thank you for your kind comments about the Beachcomber! We're glad to hear that you took your travel agent's advice and that overall, you enjoyed your stay in busy Waikiki. You're right about quieter areas, the neighbor islands, etc., but here in the Waikiki resort area, we agree with you that we're affordable, in a great location and offer our guests good value. Thank you staying with us and hope to see you again. /Dean

My wife and I stayed here in late july 2012. The check in was very pleasant and even upgraded our room. Staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The beach is across the street thru an alley but was not that bad at all to get to. The international Market is vlose by and lots of stores for shopping if that interests you. Also attended the Magic of Polynesia show which is in the hotel and enjoyed it much better than any luau.

Would definately recommend this hotel.
And if your looking for reasonable food in Hawaii check out Big City Diner - good food reasonable prices

Great Location-The best value hotel in Waikiki. I meant to stay for a week but loved the location so much that I stayed for 2 more weeks. Very clean and well run hotel. Reception staff are all excellent
and very helpful.Housekeeping also excellent. Only problem is the hotel does not have it's own F&B.
But abundant and very good choice of Restaurants and Bars within minutes of the hotel. The beach across the street only a 2 minute walk is wonderful and kept very clean and safe. It's a public beach but the fact that its' in front of the well maintained 3 Starwoods Hotels, makes the difference as to relevant "good safety" feeling. You can also use their open air restaurants while at the beach. Good shower facilities at the beach as well. If you don't want to rent a car and get stuck in traffic jams or pay heavy hotel parking fees, stay here. You have the best of the world for shopping and entertainment right at your door step before or after the beach.

If you are in to early morning running, the beach front walk is the best place on earth to burn off a few "cals" while the sun rises, cool ocean breeze and warm sun rays...just perfect for a great start to your day. Unfortunately the pool is just a bird pond. Nice for kids. But all the other advantages of this hotel makes up for it. Great free internet too, unlike most hotels.

Room Tip: Stay on "Sea Front" higher floors towards the ends of the building to have a partial sea v...

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The location of this hotel is perfectly situated in waikiki. When I booked our stay in March (traveled in july) I made them aware that we were going to be staying for our honeymoon. When we arrived they upgraded our room for free and gave us champagne. The room was very clean and the staff were always eager to help. Very short walk to shopping, restaurants, and the beach is one block over. Jimmy buffets is in the hotel and was very good for dinner and breakfast buffet. Pool was ok... the bar was nice to get cold drinks/food from while you were swimming. Friday and saturday night was a bit noisy outside but we didn't lose much sleep over it. We stayed on the 22nd floor. The only thing that could have been better was our air conditioner. We had it set on 65 degrees and the theromostat said it was 65 but it felt a little warmer like in the mid 70's. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We had a great experience and would stay again.
