“Beautiful. Easy enough for kids too.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

The hike is well marked. Enjoyable for kids too. End sights are breathtaking. Take lots of pictures. The hardest part was the "100" steps prior to end of hike. Do not wander off the trail, I always take visitors up there.

“Hike up Diamond Head and be rewarded with an amazing view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Hiking up Diamond Head crater is a must do. Depending on your athletic conditioning, it will take you 20 - 40 minutes to get to the top. I've seen elderly people do it, children, overweight people and athletes all hike the INTERIOR of the Diamond Head crater. Get to the top and the view is breathtaking. Considering this is only a few minutes outside of Waikiki, it's an easy jaunt. Take a taxi, city bus or walk to the entrance. It only costs $1 so it's well worth the money and your time. A great morning activity that will leave you free to enjoy the rest of your day on the beach!

“Diamond Head views”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

I have hiked this trail a few times.

This is a difficult hike, not suitable for very young children and people who have trouble moving around. It is VERY crowded; it would be good to start out early. In the summer it also gets very hot, another reason for an early start.

“Great hike for everyone/anyone!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

What a great hike for the whole family. I've done this hike with my 4 yr old daughter with lots of breaks..taking our time. For those who want to exercise-just pick up the pace and get a great workout. It's partly paved with steps and there's a "tunnel" that a bit dark so had to reassure my dtr a few minutes. The view is spectacular and the perfect spot to have some water/snacks.
Would recommend go early since it can get quite crowded and hot in the summer.

“Great view, not a tough hike.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

The recently improved trail to the top is not hard... If you are healthy :). I believe it takes about 35 minutes to get to the top. I would recommend walking during the cooler hours of the day. The view is terrific and you'll get awsome pictures of Waikiki. I see tourists walking to the hike but they look really hot so if you are going to walk to the trail head (inside crater) you might either consider grabbing a cab there and then walk back to hotel or walk in the early morning when its cooler. That's just my opinion though, I've never actually walked from Waikiki to the trail head, I just notice people walking and they look hot. Take water, there is a bathroom inside the crater before you start up. Best to wear shoes not sandals. Sunscreen is a must. Hang onto your cap especially if it's windy!
