Visited the Arizona memorial on a half day tour by shuttle bus from Waikiki. He trip cost $39.00 per person but I found out entry to the site was free. Anyway, by taking a tour bus you get prioritised entry to the Arizona which otherwise you can wait up to 3 hours for if you just turn up yourself. However if you get there early I understand you don't wait that long and there is a public bus (The Bus) that takes you pretty much from anywhere on the island to any where else on the island including from say Waikiki to Pearl Harbour for just $2.50 and it's free return within 2.5 hours of boarding. Half a day at Pearl Harbour is plenty of time to spend there unless you're a fanatic. Also remember that you can't take any bags on site due to security reasons.

“Simply a MUST DO in Hawaii”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

Incredibly moving memorial. Be sure to book your tickets well in advance of your visit as we saw plenty of disappointed people who showed up on the day and could not book in for a tour. I found it to be very well organised with the ferries out to the Arizona and the memorial itself is brilliant. The oil slicks from the wreck are very moving.

This was great and we were lucky enough to get tickets early. Be there early so you don't have to wait around all day

“An iconic place”

A good day, but go first thing. We had booked on line and by the time our turn came to go out to the Arizona the Navy had shut it down because of the height of the waves.

“Poignant and informative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

The surrounding displays are very well done. You get a sense of what actually happened here. In addition, I learned more about the War in the Pacific. I had no idea of the extent and coordination of the Japanese attacks on all the Pacific islands. The Arizona itself, still leaking oil after all these years, is a solemn memorial to those who died here, and their surviving shipmates who have chosen to be interred here with their fallen comrades.
