“A must see - Pay a little to get advance tickets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

If you come to Oahu – this is a must do to remember those who severed our country and were lost.

I would get your tickets in advance, the memorial is free, but if you go online there is a $1.50 charge per ticket. I paid the $6 and got an assigned time for four of us. While picking up my tickets at 8:30 AM – they were turning people away because they were already sold out for the day. It was worth the $6 to have an assigned time!

“One of those places that helps to keep life in perspective”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Standing a few feet above a ship holding the remains of over a thousand soldiers who died within a few seconds, it's hard to know where exactly to put one's thoughts.
In terms of logistics, we took the VIP Trans Shuttle from Waikiki to Pearl Harbour. It was about ten dollars return (booked online) and picked us up directly at our hotel. It was great to go without a tour because it gave a lot of flexibility for our visit. Tickets to the Arizona Memorial are free, but you can reserve them ahead of time for a $1.50 fee through the National Parks Service (http://www.nps.gov/valr/index.htm).
Other reviewers have talked about making a day of it, visiting everything that Pearl Harbour has to offer. This is probably fine if you're good with museums, but I found it all pretty intense and was ready for a break after three or four hours. Shuttle took less than 30 minutes back to our hotel.

Reviewers who have said "Don't miss it," are right.

“Very moving!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013 via mobile

I really didn't know much about Pearl Harbor and the memorials until I watched the movie presentation at the beginning of the tour. Very moving. The actual memorial was very simple, and tastefully done.

“Do Not Miss the Arizona Memorial”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

We ordered timed entry tickets at recreation.gov for a minimal fee to ensure a definate time. The one hour earlier pick up leaves just enough time to see 2 very interesting museums. The visit starts with an excellent video then you go by boat to the memorial. Wear rubber soled shoes since sudden showers make slippery walking on the boat. This is a very moving experience.

“Humbling Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

I got to go on Dec. 7. They were having their annual Pearl Harbor Day celebration. There are not alot of survivors left but the ones that were there were treated like Rock Stars. A real humbling experience.
