Owner description: Verde Canyon Railroad is Arizona’s longest-running nature show. The four-hour scenic ride includes views of Sinagua Indian ruins, waterfowl, wildlife and a 680-foot man-made tunnel. The train follows the upper Verde River and is ideally situated above the heat of the desert and below the cold of Arizona’s high country. In the spring and summer see Great Blue Heron and black hawks; fall and winter bring brightly-colored foliage and the arrival of migratory bald and golden eagles.

Beautiful scenery, great food, friendly co travelers, and a informative hostess. We had a great time on this luxury train ride. I learned so much about the area. Carrie, our guide, was very friendly and had a good knowledge of the place.

“Excellent way to see Arizona's back country in Comfort and Style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The train has well appointed cars that are luxurious enough without being pretentious. We were served a lovely snack and drinks but the real attraction was out on the open air decks. The weather was lovely and the wildlife abundant. We saw Bald Eagles and deer and the Fall Color was excellent. We went in Oct. of 2009. Such a nice way to spend an afternoon.

Gorgeous and fun! We had so much fun taking photos of the beautiful canyon. It was so nice to have a great time while not being interrupted by the day to day details!!

“A unique experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

A fabulous journey through the Verde Valley. The carriages are old and comfortable in first class. The attendants are excellent and knowledgeable. You can't drive the route so you see a completely different perspective and we saw bald faced eagles! Definitely a must do.

“Awesome scenery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Great trip. We went with first class and loved the intimacy of the plush railcar. Don't worry which side you sit, the train comes back on the same track. Nice munchies, not a lunch but sandwich slices and chicken wings. Top class service, except on the return they SELL ice cream sandwiches for $, ? really? Definitely a great trip. Spectacular views, visit the open car its refreshing. We loved the day, relaxing and pleasant ride. Fabulous trip to do with family or friends. Hint, if you want more than just one drink, order the first time ...tough to get a second round of drinks.
