“Avoid rooms between (Floor)01 to (Floor)04”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

Just a tip. There is a generator or other electronic machine emitting a constant hum day and night at this end of the building day & night. More prevelent in the higher floors Sleep is tough. Hotel very accomnidating in moving me from 603 to 403.Noise still evident on lower floor but not enough to stop sleep. Also rooms face atrium which can be noisy and walls are thin and neighbors who wake up early will also wake you up. Great location great staff but building short comings

Room Tip: Avoid rooms between (Floor)01 to (Floor)04

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to many Newport attractions. We stayed two nights during the winter months for a last minute getaway and the room rate was really good. We didn't spend too much time in the hotel and there really is no reason to. The rooms are fine, clean and typical. The hotel is pretty big and I would guess attracts a lot of large parties/meetings/convention type folks (there was a hockey tournament when we were there). There are certainly a lot more quaint New England-y places to stay in Newport but, of course, those are typically a lot more pricey. We ate at Moorings, very good and at 28 Degrees also very good. We had the breakfast buffet at the hotel which was fine. Traditional, nothing special but well priced. We treated ourselves to dinner at Castle Hill Inn...fantastic! Service beyond compare and very good food if you are looking to indulge.

Rather unique design, bright open lobby, mice sitting area with fireplace. Rooms are clean, staff friendly, room service prices reasonable (at least for breakfast) Do HATE having to pay for internet service though! Lots of resturants within walking distance. ANd the best part - right on the harbor - ask for a room on the water side for a great view. Winter rates very reasonable.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view.

The Newport Marriott is located right on the water and convenienet to all of the downtown attractions. Many fine restaurants and bars are within walking distance as are many shopping venues! Hightly recommended for the location.

Did a weekend offseason stay at bargain $139.00 per night rate, we checked in after 6pm, reception people were very nice as were the valets, Marriott Gold immediately got us upgrade to water view room, and since concierge lounge is closed on weekends we were given breakfast coupons for restaurant without asking (nice perk). Our Marriott Rewards profile includes WSJ, feather pillows and extra towels, they were all waiting in our room when we arrived, (another nice perk).

Room was over 300 sq ft, and extremely clean and bed comfortable. Plenty of outlets and free internet for Gold/Platinum. Make sure you ask for a room facing the city or water as many of the rooms face an indoor atrium. Housekeeping is excellent and a small monetary tip left us with extra bath amenities as well as extra towels every day. Entire hotel is spotless, carpets in room and hall look brand new and public restrooms in hotel are immaculate. While this may be an older property, it’s tough to find any faults, except for the elevators, one of the 3 was broken the entire weekend. Parking at hotel covered garage is $7 during the offseason versus $20 the rest of the year.

Had drinks at the bar, reasonable prices and plenty of seats with great views. Breakfast buffet was good, many choices and servers were really friendly. Plenty of restaurants and shopping within walking distance, you will only need your car to go to the mansions and cliff walk. We went to the servants tour at the Elms (REALLY GOOD), and ate at Red Parrot (Good), Brick Alley Pub ( Very Good), 22 Bowen (Really Good). Plenty of free public parking downtown during the offseason you don’t have to feed the meters from Nov-Mar , don’t ever pay to use the private lots by the stores, it’s a waste.

Room Tip: Room facing City or Water.

stayed while on business over in the warwick area, being brits we wanted to stay somewhere we could walk out of the hotel for a bar meal and drink. this fitted the bill well. the rates are low in jan, not too many staff about, but service was still excellent and friendly. we got upgraded to a harbour view as they weren't busy - i would say this is essential anyway as it's why youre staying

Room Tip: get one over the harbour

We stayed here after impulsively driving to Newport for the weekend. Rates were very good, and we ended up eating dinner at the bar because we were too tired to go out looking for a restaurant. Surprisingly, it was very good! Room very comfy, very little noise. Also, very good on the cleanliness angle!
