I have stayed at the NM probably over 50 nights in the past 15 years. Prima facie there is nothing wrong with this place. It's resonably clean and the staff is fine. My only gripe after all these years is that the standard rooms are too small if you bring your family. Yes, I have stayed in the suites on the top floor - they are great and plenty of room and nice views. However, I don't always get these rooms and 4 people in the standard rooms is a little cramped. I know it's a minor gripe; however, a comparable room at the Viking feels a bit more spacious and uplifting and I don't know, a little more charming. Why do I still go to Marriot? Well, the network and the rewards program are obviously a major driver. Also, you know what you get with a Marriot (yes, it's written into the contracts they franchise too - check their 10K). Bigger picture is your in Newport. Newport is a fantastic place for kids of all ages.

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott for 2 nights for our brief Newport getaway. With the discounted rate we were able to get for the room, we were extremely pleased with our stay. We had a beautiful view of the harbor, and the room was comfortable and clean. The bed was great but the pillows left a lot to be desired (they were feather pillows, but they were just very flat and uncomfortable). As others have said, the location was extremely convenient - we could easily walk to shops, restaurants, and attracations. I know this may be standard for all Marriotts, but I must say that I was bothered by the feeling of being nickel & dimed - the excessive charge for wifi just seemed ridiculous when must less expensive hotels offer it for free.

We stayed here on November 23rd (Black Friday) as a party of four: two teens and two adults. The hotel is BEAUTIFUL and in a great location. Check in was fast, and the front desk was very helpful and happy to offer suggestions about what to do with only one night. Stores / restaurants / waterfront are all in walking distance. We were also fortunate to get a room on the 6th floor with a view! And overnight parking was at a discount ($7 instead of $20) presumably because of the winter month. The reasons for only giving it four stars include the following: (1) very small, tight rooms, especially with 4 people, (2) beds were not very comfortable, (3) the pool and spa were closed. I would stay here again in a heartbeat though! Great experience overall.

Room Tip: 6th floor has vaulted ceilings, which gives the illusion of larger rooms.

We stayed at the Newport Marriott for four days. The location on the water is great and it is close to many great shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. This is my second stay at this hotel and I would recommend it as well as Newport as this is a lovely city to explore.

We spent a weekend at the Marriott Newport and we thought the hotel was ideally located by the marina, very clean and comfortable and the staff was nice and friendly. The decor had a nautical theme and it fit perfectly. The bed was very comfortable, the room was spacious enough and very clean. I did not enjoy the coffee they have available in the room, i thought it was quite horrible actually. There is a Starbucks on the 2nd level if you want to purchase your own coffee and business must be booming there based on taste of the coffee they offer in the room. My husband and I had breakfast the next day in the restaurant on site and thought the prices were unusually high for a hotel's restaurant - $13.00 for Healthy start breakfast??? Really? For oatmeal and fruit? Skip breakfast there if you can, there are lots of cafe's and restaurants in walking distance and you might find way better deals especially for breakfast. Except for the high prices on site and the bad coffee in the room, no complaints. I would go back actually :)))

I went here for a conference in November. It was a great space. My room was big, clean and had a good view. The staff was extreamly friendly and very helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect. We walked to dinner and shopping. I figured things would be closed in November but everything was open and busy.

The staff for the conference did a great job and the food served was great.

This hotel boasts a harborfront location, but most rooms have interior windows. Ours faced the elevator requiring us to keep the drapes tightly closed for the entire time! It is located in a good spot for sightseeing. It is next to the visitors center where you can catch a trolley to the mansions. There are many shops and restaurants within walking distance. The food in the restaurant is good and the staff members at the hotel all seem friendly and helpful. I was able to access the free public internet in my room but I think that was only because my room was facing the lobby area. Otherwise there is a per device charge for internet access in the rooms. The room is small but comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the few harborview rooms
