“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2009

Stayed here for a night in October 2009, not a bad hotel Awesome views!! ,Very clean Theres plenty parking for a fee. (some weekends parking is free) Beds are comfortable, New Lcd tv's, (you can hook up a dvd or video game console here)Hotel is handicapped accessible plenty of elevators and ramps ect. Hotel is very upscale which goes hand and hand with Newport, Staff here is good, the prices for food either in the restaurant or room service is very expensive however the food is very good. The walls are paper thin and you can hear the loud mouth drunks in the middle of the night screaming ect. The gym/pool here is the best i have ever seen in any hotel! The 11am check out time has got to go! Overall i enjoyed my stay very much but the hotel is a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Our experience was simply delightful! Guest services as well as staff were very accommodating and helpful. Location is superb...had a great room which overlooked the causeway and the lighthouse. Would definitely return for another visit!

We travel to Newport often and usually stay at a hotel downtown that offers parking, an essential in Newport. We booked late this time, and couldn't get our usual place so decided to try the Hyatt: they also offer parking, and we enjoyed staying there years ago when it was the Doubletree. Overall, we were very pleased. We had a lovely, modern, upscale room overlooking the shipyard. As it was classic race weekend, we had a great view of some beautiful old sailboats. There were many dining options, the rooms were clean, the staff genial and responsive. We were concered about being a bit far out, but the walk to town is not a bad one at all. The hotel also provides van service, and a water taxi runs between the hotel and a very central downtown pier. The only negative is that they really need to offer free wi-fi when you are paying such a high price for a hotel room.

I don't know what the hotel looked like beforebut the rooms sure look shabby. The first room they put us in had filthy window so couldn'see the pretty water view. The second was better in that regard but the hotel still looks rundown. Pretty sitting area outside but that was it. paper thin walls .300 a night should go a little further even in newport

Nice hotel, make sure you get a king bed as double beds are tiny. Any extras very expensive, no free wireless.

We decided to splurge on a nice night out. We made a reservation at the Hyatt because being from this area we have never stayed there. It was a pleasure, the staff was SO great! The bellman made us feel like we were at the Ritz Carlton. The front staff even being there just one night, new our name every time we passed the desk! GREAT EXPEIRENCE! thanks so much!

I have to say that the hotel was very nice. We had a free room voucher and upon checkin, I was advised that they were going to upgrade us to the bridal suite at no additional charge! I almost fell over! The room was nice! New, clean, HUGE bathroom with whirlpool tub. Great view. OK, now the catch! Little did they tell us that there would be a WEDDING RECEPTION right outside our door until 11pm! Basically, we had DJ quality sound in our room until 11pm! The mens and women's room was right across the hall from our room so we had all of that noise too! I do agree with the other reviews about thin walls. I was able to hear the people above us talking. While in the bathroom, I heard everything they said like they were in the same room as I was! Unlike the other reviews, we were not charged to park. Internet access was $9.95/day which is ridiculous! We checked out the breakfast menu for a monday morning breakfast and the buffet was $21.00! Pancakes were $11.00! So, we went into town to eat. They do have a water taxi you can take into town on the weekends which ran until 11pm on the 1/2 hour. That was a nice perk! The grounds were nice and the view was spectacular! But, even if I could afford $350 a night for a room, I don't think that would be the hotel I would pick! But, it was worth staying there once for the experience!
