We had lunch here on a Thursday after the usual lunch hours so the service was attentive and pleasant. Unfortunately, the food quantity and quality left a bit to be desired. An order of crab cakes consisted of two small crabcakes of unknown origin served with a few strips of red and yellow peppers which had little or no dressing. When queried as to the type of crab the waitress was at a loss but did try to find out. The answer was lump and backfin crab. There were no lumps in the crabcakes which were somewhat tasteless and of small shreds of crab with a few stripes of remoulade over the top. The clam chowder was very thick with flour but tasty. A Lobster roll was full of chunks of lobster on a frankfurter type of soft white roll and served with a mass of mesclun greens, lightly dressed and covering most of the plate. The Safari room was nicely air conditioned while outside there were numerous umbrella shaded tables with a wonderful view of the water. The outside bar personnel were friendly and helpful. The prices were high but it is Newport and the summer.
