“Best Espresso in town!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

If you are in Newport and need your espresso fix you have to give Empire a try. You will be hooked! They have the best machines and baristas plus a great selection of grounds. They also have a great selection of teas all of them loose leaf and either made to order or to take home. I heard they just installed their own roaster and can't wait until they start bringing out their own roasts. I;m sure it will be great considering the care they put into their craft. Definitely a must for any coffee and tea aficionado.

“Yum bubble tea!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

Yes they have great teas and coffe drinks but the bubble tea is awesome! Especially because I am lactose intolerant and they use really good nondairy flavors such as taro root, coconut and chocolate pudding. Yum. Must try. Very hipster atmosphere.

“Good coffee, high prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

The people know their coffee here. I'm an espresso snob. They only pull a double, this makes sense to me. service was great, but the prices are high. An esspresso,a latte and two yogurt parfaits for $16:00. Come on!

“Great tea lattes and desserts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Friendly help- delicious chocolate cake , cookies , frozen hot chocolate and tea lattes. Similar feel to most coffee/ tea places but open late. Mostly locals and away from the tourist crowd.

“Close, but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

Warm environment, very good coffee, and very friendly service. Large selection of teas and bubble teas. Muffins were very good.

I would have rated it outstanding but: Their bagels were terrible* and their coffee lids don't fit their cups properly - so count on a puddle of coffee in the take out tray and/or drips on your shirt.

* - not just the "Dunkin Donuts - this isn't a bagel - it's a roll" bad - but truly "dry and tasteless" bad.

Too bad... As I liked everything else about the place.
